Addo Carr signs with Storm...

Can't wait till Teddy starts carving up with the Rorters and we all bag Ivan for letting him go.

I had a laugh the other day when someone suggested we would not lose any young talent on Cleary's watch when 3 of "the big 4" left after he arrived.

They left because they were so upset that the maestro (JT) was sacked and couldn't bear to stay at the tigers and be without him.

It is hinted earlier in this thread that Taupau may have been influenced to leave (partly) due to how a certain player was treated - it also could have influenced the loyalty of the Big Three.

All fine and good BBF about how a certain player was mistreated by the coach but something tells me it wasn't all one way traffic in the mistreating department.

A SMH article on Saturday re the grand finalists etc states how the halves etc. exhibit the same intensity and/or simplicity in life as they do on the field and proceeded to analyse all the greats. When watching videos of the big blues in SOO etc. His Royal Highness never took a backward step so that can be expected in outside life. If the first episode between them was about representing Australia then the fall out over that set the pattern of what was to follow. A people manager should not get off on the wrong foot and expect to have an easy career when there are champs and egos involved.

That may be so but it doesn't excuse a player of any calibre to think they are bigger than the coach. RF has been reported to have played a major part in the sacking of Sheens and Potter. JT obviously thought he was next and being the coach wanted to stop the rot.

Anyway, it's been done to death and I'm glad it's over. Ivan has my support at this time. Nuff said

How good was Addo Carr. One of our best ever bone headed retention decisions. I'm glad JT is gone Rankin was rated the better winger. Wow.

It as a poor decision by the club and the coach. The CEO being on holidays is the best throw away line I have heard in a while. But you cant change the past so lets move on.

Best summary yet Sheer64.

Can someone help me understand how a player signing elsewhere and declining our offer is a club decision?

Well the Tigers signing on guy was away on holidays and better offers from better teams were coming in. The declination of a WT higher offer only came after it was too late to back out of the Melbourne contract - the ink was dry.

The CEO being on holidays reminds me of a girl at my school who could not attend due to the front gate being jammed. Even Acting Prime Minister Doug Anthony, back in the seventies, would stay at primitive caravan sites and with just a public telephone could run the country. Yet the CEO with email, smart phones, I Pads, laptops, instagrams and facebook it appears could not do a simple signing on.

Geo I can only think of 500,000+ reasons for each of the above that might be different?

Well it appears he wasnt a priority and that is a club decision. Just like it was Melbournes decision to target him and secure him early in the season - you cant deny we had opportunity.
So for that reason my summation is their recruitment dept did better than ours.

The way I view it is you dont just compete with clubs on the field. Melbourne were proactive in their approach to sign JAC while he couldn't get a run in FG with us. Asking him to wait till the CEO gets back from holidays probably not a good decision when you are competing against Melbourne to secure a young player, when they are trying to weigh up their future. That was a club decsion imo.

Having coaches who were simply not up to it cost us Koroibete and JAC. Experienced coaches would have recognised the raw talent immediately rather than dismiss them to the lower grades.

Who cares - the point is that they are gone. Let's look forward to a successful 2018.

why did the tigers let him go?

He was a stand out in NYC for the sharks and was stoked when he signed with the tigers. But I always seem to get let down by this club

He signed with the Storm while Pascoe was on holidays, he was asked not to do anything until Pascoe returned from holidays.

Someone forgot to tell Pascoe about a thing called a telephone???
That's sounded like a lame excuse when Pascoe first used it, it sounds like complete
Stupidity now.

I suppose they'll use the money we saved , for that real fast new bloke that we signed…..just can't think of his name........I'm sure there was one....maybe not!

Thanks you have your opinion as I have mine but Marty made it well known he was not happy with the Robbie Jason saga

That rings a bell. I'm sure i read somewhere at the time that Marty wasn't impressed with the treatment of certain players at the club ie farah and it had a bearing on his decision to leave. I know Manly offered big dollars but he was always talking about staying loyal until Robbie Taylor falling out

If we build a team culture, people will shirk the +20,000 offers and stay. Melbourne, Brisbane and other teams will scalp our young talent. If they offer more money, they are gone. The better we are, the more team we are the less we will see our talent walk.

Hats off to the WT for recognising the need for culture.

Who cares? Fans of this once proud club care about players who the club could have built it's future success around. I think it's fantastic it hurts to see quality young players leave why? because it shows fans care.

I'd forfeit my annual leave for 2 years if it meant re-signing JAC

Seems like all the talk around him really, really wanting to stay, were, as they say, crapola.

Melbourne only club that believed in me, says Addo-Carr
A premiership ring on the winger's finger is proof of a stunning ascent to the competition's summit for a player who was until recently an NRL fringe dweller.

According to people on here - JAC signed with Storm before Pascoe went on Hols. He is a mercenary.

Koro and Tapau were also mercenaries.

Moses, Woods and Tedesco all chased future glory and cash - they did not want to stay.

So who should I care about tsjonathan????

AND who is to say I don't care about the team? I just don't care about people who do not want to play for the MIGHTY WESTS TIGERS.

Addo-Carr was chased by the Storm before he signed with the Tigers. Once he got himself known in FG with us last year, it was inevitable that he would leave after listening to him last week, he said it was a no-brainer to sign with them and he certainly proved it.

A story in Saturday's Telegraph stating that Paul Bunn (Storms talent scout) met with JAC and signed him the night before he made his debut for the Tigers.
I don't know if this was when Pascoe was on holidays or before.
