AFL GRAND FINAL

So it seems the AFL is too stupid to have extra time in its deciders.

Thank God its two Victorian teams, they can keep that shiite down there.

I couldnt believe it when they said it was going to be a replay next week what a joke.100,000 fans there and instead of doing the smart thing like play extra time they just come back next week, pathetic. What happens if next week is a draw aswell come back the week after. There might be a good chance the boxing day test and the AFL GF will be played at the same time. They let their players take as much drugs as they like and dont do anything about it until they are caught 3 times yet cant play extra time in a GF.

Sneaky plan by the GayFL to take away the limelight from the working man's game, had a little bit of interest in the St Kilda side as my son in law is a fan but could only watch bits and pieces as the game was so scrappy, I stopped watching as I thought that Collingwood were going to win easily and it wasn't until just now I knew the result!.

To me its just another greedy scam by the AFL to make more money.

They'll say its traditional but to me what they really want is the money that will come in through another week of publicity and another big crowd at the MCG that they can snaffle up.

And then of course there's the opportunity for them to take more limelight away from the NRL.

I heard some bloke from the afl say its tradition that they dont play extra time but it wasnt tradional to have teams from sydney, adelaide, perth and brisbane in the comp or to have three umpires on the field or to play friday nights ,nick maxwell the magpies captain summed it up well in a after game interview"its a bloody joke"

Problem is AFL goes too long, its a joke when marks aren't being taken and all they do is fumble the ball along the ground.

Also you can't discern 90% of the rules by watching one game.

The 3rd quarter of the 2005 Swans vs WC Eagles is the only decent AFL I have ever seen played.

I live with their supporters and they tell me rugby league has no skills, and you watch that fumbling crap, and what that is skill?

Thats the old excuse that the AFL throws up for everything, its nothing more then just money from a greedy arrogant organisation who thinks it is King S***.
I heard on the news that through having the replay the AFL is going to make an extra $25 million from it, to me that says it all.

It's actually smart in a way. They will make heaps more $$$ and how often does it happen really? It would be funny if it's a draw again next weekend though!

Next week they will have extra time so apparently "tradition" only counts for one week.

They have no choice for extra time as after this weekend the AFL loses its rights to the MCG and the cricket takes over

was watching the game, whilst filling in time to wests-tiger game on sat night.
collingwood had a few chances to nail it. accuracy cost them the game.

as an AFL supporter (and St Kilda at that :laughing🙂 I couldn't believe that they didn't play extra time - this is only the third time in history this has happened.

interstate trips etc have been cancelled by players, other sports have been severely disrupted as a result - i would say the reason they are doing extra time if needed this weekend is because the MCG needs to have the turf ripped up and relaid prior to the cricket season beginning and another week would be pushing the love in a big way with the MCG trust.

collingwood got the collywobbles  - it should have been done and dusted in the second qtr but thankfully they can't kick straight

What a joke, people who go to a grand final for anything want closure on the season. I'd rather the NRL grand final go to a field goal shoot out than a replay the following week. It's a logical decision to play extra time, they do it in every other sport. Then again, they will make great coin out of it, so good for them, they can pump it into their futile attempt to win the hearts of Western Sydney folk.

I have a mate who went to Melbourne for the AFL GF on an end of season trip.

He reckons it was a terrible night out, as everyone was acting as though they had lost….I tried to explain to him that they all were losers....he wasnt real impressed lol.

Didn't see a second of it, and won't see any more this weekend either. I was talking with my mum who tried to watch it but gave up. She said it was equivalent to watching 7 year olds playing soccer - everyone standing in a big group fumbling over the ball. Then if the ball goes out of play, the ref tosses it in instead of either side taking control. It is seriously as if the game was designed for 7 year olds but nobody told the players…
