A question I pose without being narky or sarcastic. If South's have to pay some freight for Johnston or Gagai or both. Should we let spite stop us from picking up a bargain? South's will offload them eventually, some Club will grab these guys on the cheap. Interested in you guys opinion

Depends how much is subsidised by Souths. If what their fans are saying is close to the money.. AJ is on between 350k-400k and Gagai 700k-750k.

According to the POM, Maguire was already interested in AJ before Mitchell came on the market.

Any effort to sign Johnston now is the definition of stupidity. He is on good money and will expect similar with a long term contract.

He is off contract next year, and given a year in reserve grade (he will not make south's top 17 without injuries) he will be available for near enough to minimum contract.

Do u know how much I saw 300k which Is a bargain but don't know how reliable

That did not work out well with Packer, Matulino etc

Do you really think Madge is gonna want to sign some 1 that isn’t gonna benefit the team just to have them around for old time sake?

I'm coming around to that idea as well - i reckon we take both - AJ for 3 years and Gagai for 2. Screw Souths over for some costs and pick both up for around 800k. If Madge can get Gagai back to somewhere near his best it adds pace and a bit of class to the backline. I think our forwards will hold their own against most sides this season. Only concern really will be the no.9.

That would be great outcome for our backline provide we screw down the $s and get Rabbits to field substantial amount of the deal.
