I'm going to go on record and say Latrell is the only potential Souths backliner that I'm enthused by or specifically impressed with. I don't know why all the fuss over their current backline and salary cap, because I'm fairly indifferent to some of their footballers.
Doueihi seems a really good kid, good footballing heart and grit. I think he lacks strength in the tackle and lacks finesse to his game. I would be fine if there was some deal with Tigers to get him back, but he's hardly setting the game alight and IMO no better a prospect than Momirovski already is, just different best positions. IMO Doueihi isn't that much better than Thompson either, just taller. I think too many people watched Doueihi in a few finals games and became enamoured.
AJ I don't rate, never have. He's got Tim Moltzen all over him, and yes he's scored tries backing up, so has Robert Jennings.
Campbell Graham - not seeing it myself. Big unit, still a kid, fast enough. Absolutely no reaction whatsoever on his face during games, which I find odd. Where is the passion? Wayne tried him out at centers, I don't think he's your first-choice there. Got mauled by Roosters in last year's finals, so he needs more meat on that tall frame.
Braidon Burns - hasn't done anything of note. Was really really ordinary on debut but seems to have steadied himself into an ok centre of no particular merit or deficiency.
Jimmy Jet - every few years he hits a real peak and is nearly untouchable for half a season. Not sure if 2020 will be one of those years, but he's not getting any younger.
Dane Gagai - we all know, ace at Origin and extraordinarly average at club level.
Cody Walker - really likeable footballer, like an agile Cliff Lyons, absolute touch football talent. Typically cannot step up in the crunch games - finals, Origin. I like him a lot but he needs specific conditions to excel, like early season.
Adam Reynolds - unparalleled kicking capacity, so long as there is a platform. Tries hard the rest of times, decent little halfback.
Corey Allan - uninspiring so far. Can do a job at FB or wing or even centre, but far from impressive. Fairly ordinary defensively at FB.
Bryson Goodwin - back from the dead, no idea how he was going in UK.
That's their first tier backline options, overall I don't see the fuss.
Tedesco-Giraffe-Latrell-Manu-Morris-Keary-Cronk - now there is a star-studded backline to be complaining about.
Fair enough, but how many of our current backline would make the Souths starting side? I can't think of one.
No-one from 1-7 of our side would make the Souths backline
personally i think brooks is a bette half then reynolds, adams just had the benefit of playing in better teams his career
