Alex Johnston

Another decent first grader of which our club had little for the right price it's a good purchase.

So many people dissing solid first graders it's mind blowing. Every signature is not going to be a superstar

Do people want him now?

He's a good winger and I doubt many would dispute that. He won't be cheap though and I personally would rather we explore a cheaper wing option and spend money in other areas like second row, prop, fullback and centre…

We have a cheap threequarter line now that's paper thin and slow as a wet week… Every week we bemoan our pathetic defense out wide, I think it's time we stopped overlooking this part of the park

You want to improve our defence out wide so you want to sign… Alex Johnston? Are we talking about the same guy, or are you just advocating that we sign _someone_ - anyone - with first-grade pedigree on the assumption that this means they must be good?

We need to jump at these kind of players. Did you see him chase down the melbourne winger. He is still young. We would be silly not to chase him for another wing spot. We almost need a whole new backline. You would keep suli and nofa. Alex johnston on the other wing would be huge for us.

Totally depends on the contract. Johnston does basically one thing well - run fast. That has value, but not $700k a year of value. Basically he wants fullback money, and he's a terrible fullback. So you can pay him fullback money to play wing, which is a horrible waste, or play him at fullback where he's crap. Neither is a good option.

If it turns out he'd sign and play wing for $200-300k a year I'd change my opinion. But that's a fantasy.

Lol, who on earth says he wants 700k. Not a chance any club in the comp would offer him remotely close to that. Just another moron in the press with click-bait headlines i imagine.

As a winger on about 300-350k he'd be ok.

johnstone asking for $700k haha as if

he would end up like mitch rein who knocked back saints offer of $500k then found out no one wanted him so went to penrith for $150k

The $700K figure was bandied about when he was seeking fullback money, but as a winger he would be lucky to get half that amount. St George may see him as a fullback and offer him more than $350K but I don't think he has impressed when given the role as a fullback.

Are any clubs still looking for a FB? Maybe the Dragons….
Otherwise, he may have to settle for a wing spot, be it at Redfern or elsewhere. We should absolutely be in the queue if so.

His attempted tack on Hoffman was terrible. All arms an jersey grabbing with no shoulder at all.He is a very quick bloke, but horribly overrated as a footballer.

souths should pay him as much as he wants if its to play on the wing.
he has been one of souths best in a position he doesnt want to play.
why would he come to the tigers to play wing?

I look at the roster and if and I emphasise if he would sign he plays on the wing I have no problem the guy can get to the line has speed to burn ..a massive upgrade on what is there ATM.
