Alex Seyfarth #232

I would but it wouldn’t matter, according to you. After all, wasn’t it you who’s been questioning Benjis coaching all season? Claiming he’d rather be a friend first than a coach?
What’s that got to do with the price of rice in China? What Joe Blow on a forum thinks of a player means jack shit. Don’t take your anger out on him. Take it out on the ones who pick him every week.

LMAO you brought Benji into it, genius. I didn’t even mention him nor did the other poster. I called him out for stanning for a mediocre player which all the stats show is an objective fact. But I know you sometimes struggle with reading comprehension and have a side of the ‘tism so I’ll let it slide, champ 👍

But he’s not the one picking him, so what’s it matter? Blame the coach.

Here’s how he was comparing after about 10 rounds as a starter. I’ll update with the remaining ~5 games he started in when I get the chance.

Here’s his per game stats up to RD21

You could also use your eyes and brain but I understand Magpie supporters struggle with both those things.
Firstly, I’d like to say I also believe that Alex had a fairly lacklustre year last year and based on that he should be in NSW Cup to start the year only coming into first grade as cover or if he has earned a promotion by playing out of his skin.

However, your statistics are not comparable and could be improved.
Firstly your sample size is 1 second rower from every team and based on what I know it appears to be each teams strongest 2ndrower, but Alex is certainly not our strongest 2ndrower, Sam Fainu is. Most teams have 2 or 3 2nd rowers in the line up so if you wanted to prove your point that he was statistically the most innefective starting 2nd rower in the comp (which he probably was with Sukkar) then you need to compare him with 33 other 2nd rowers not just 16. Secondly Koloamatangi had played a majority of the season as a prop (although he might have played first 9 as second row), so not worth comparing.

The other thing is your statistics are probably best shown on a minutes per statistic basis as well as the aggregate scores (although not for run metres). It makes it a lot easier to see that players output on a comparable scale to effectively compare between the two. I would also include tackle efficiency if you are going to show missed and made tackles even though there is a lot more to defence than just that. And things like tackle breaks, line breaks are important statistics for 2ndRowers.

Appreciate the response and feedback. I pulled these together in less than 10 minutes at the time so they’re not the most comprehensive collection of stats but they present a pretty clear picture. From memory, I think the list contained starting right side 2nd rowers for a fair comparison.

Agreed regarding per minute stats and I thought I had one which showed the stats per minute but I can’t track it down. For what it’s worth, I seriously doubt things like TB and LB will help Seyfarths case as he couldn’t break his way out of a wet paper bag.

Seyfarth was only filling in as an edge 2nd rower as we had nobody else.
As of 2026 he will be back in his favoured middle forward rotation.
I cannot believe we still have supporters wanting believe Seyfarth on a contract of around 350k is a big reason why our team struggles ?
He doesn’t set the world on fire, but for his contract value he is not supposed to and you will struggle to find many forwards much better on the same contract value.
You must be on planet Mars if you honestly think our players on contracts of 400k or less are what’s causing us to keep missing the top 8.

Who’s pinned all the teams struggles on Seyfarth & said he’s the reason we’re missing the top 8?

Great to see other Alex Seyfarth fans out in force. Everyone is always saying that Luai's influence is the reason we improved, or that Benji's coaching is getting through to the players, or that Richo's hard work is starting to pay off. All of these things play a small role in getting us off the bottom.

The real reason we will be a shot at the eight in 2026 is that we have big red coming off the bench to work his butt off. Api, Luai, Bula, Doueihi, etc. may play well, but we all know that without Seyfarth's dedication to improvement, they wouldn't want to get out of bed in the morning.

#ThanksAlex

Absolutely when people have no idea why we keep missing the top 8 but still want to make clueless comments.
I have no idea who if anyone called for Seyfarth to be starting on an edge in 2026, but common sense tells us that will not be happening, he will be fighting for a spot on the bench like players on around 350k are supposed to be doing.
That’s where baby giraffes should be, tied up to a bench.

Let’s swap him for Corey Jensen, Jack Gosiewski or Ben Taity and all our problems will be solved.
Our team of superstars will instantly win us a premiership with that simple player swap for a player of equal value.

Not how player contracts work!

You need FOUR parties to agree - both clubs and both players!

This isn't a league where you can trade players/draft picks etc!

Wake up to yourself FFS!

Are you for real ?
The players I named are the Broncos equivalents.
What bearing do these players have on the Broncos success ?
Very minimal wouldn’t you say ?

What a day or so on the forum. Our British international right edge signing in KPP doesn't deserve to be classed as an international, and Seyfarth is good enough to push Samuela into the middle.

Seriously, WTF!

Yeah we definitely don’t have the brightest bunch on here 😂

“But..but.. he tries hard”. Yeah so does my 10 y/o nephew in his park footy games on the weekend. Absolute dipshits.
