Alex Twal #206

Firstly, Twal is playing out of his mind this year - the best form of his career. He is literally charging the ball up, offloading effectively and often providing a link between the forwards and backs, ala Isaah Yeo. Secondly, I think Pole is actually playing better than at the end of last year. He is running harder and straighter and playing the ball faster. It's a relief to see that he's abandoned the ridiculous hop and incessant stepping before the line in favour of simply belting it up. I was worried about his arm grabbing defense in our first game but he seemed to eradicate it yesterday and tackled well.

What about Sione ? Is he better than Pole now ?

Interesting to read everyone's praise for Twally now, wasn't that long ago there were calls for his head.

Always had it in him, when he first came across from Parra I thought he was good, his dips in form mainly happened because of injuries/niggles.

Yes Steve …it’s amazing how people’s opinions change when you go from plodding to one of the best players on the team 😂

Always been a fan of Twal, but even I never thought he would be playing like this to start the year

Almost 30 and there's been significant improvement in his passing, offloading and just general leg speed when passing the footy

Also love the minutes he's playing - his stamina is one of his best attributes and as a natural leader, having him out there for 60 odd minutes has benefited us massively.

Get a try next week Twally!!

A lot of the players have mentioned Benji has empowered the players to "express themselves".

I reckon Twal was playing as he was told, not as he has wanted... with this new approach from Benji, its giving the players to play less structured and more in the moment.

Either way, it's working.

Always thought Alex had an off load in him.

So many times you would see him get his arm free but there was no one there to take the pass, looks like things are changing and he is getting some back up and the confidence to actually do it.

He’s one of these ‘machine’ type players with a massive motor, very professional. Hope he keeps it up.

And a bonus, he seems like a very good bloke to have around off the the field
