I like to visit these threads and see people get triggered by Lee. He was actually fairly moderate in this one - acknowledging the failures and supporting his senior management. Nothing weird or out-there about that.

But people still getting triggered. If Pascoe or Hartigan aren't fronting the media, nor Sheens, and it's only Madge doing most of the talking, who is going to field the questions on behalf of club management, if not Lee? That's part of his role.

If Pascoe comes out and makes the same comments, another group again gets triggered by Pascoe and starts ranting about haircuts and stubble.

No, actually what he said was very insulting to the club and it's members. He's embarrassing himself and potential the club.

He's basically said that regardless of how poorly key staff members perform they are guaranteed job security. That should never be the case, in any organisation. There has to be a line.
Sure we can offer support and not knee jerk reactions. But the board, CEO, and most of our playing staff have failed for many, many years in a row now. They can have no job security. Did he need to mention anything? Other than we'll conduct a thorough review of our performance at the end of teh season, like we do every year, and make decisions accordingly to give us the best chance of success moving forwards etc.

How many other chairmen are regularly interviewed in the media? None. Maybe 1 here or there. Lee wants to be a celebrity. He wants to hang with the cool kids. He may have money but he doesn't necessarily have our best intentions at heart. He's an egomaniac looking for new ways to feed his ego.

I think it's great there's no mass sackings. All we've ever had is a coaching merry-go-round and this is the result. Time we hang tough and stay the course.

Staying the course is a noble gesture but it has to be the right people in the right positions otherwise success will never eventuate. We don't have the right people in the right positions.

I do not think a coach that’s been here for 3 seasons and not made a mediocre top 8 is exactly a merry go round ,. I could be wrong maybe failure needs 4 seasons to be acceptable!

I get your point, but I truly don't believe 3 years is enough in our case. At this point Im not sure how long is enough, but the state of the joint when Madge and co. arrived has proven that it needs more than any of us would like to come to terms with.

In all honesty about time someone from leadership actually is saying we are in a rebuild and have to do it the right way. It’s the reason they signed Sheens, extended Madge, bought a heap of young players, built a coe. Smart fans have worked it out but they would buy themselves time for brand damage by continually saying we are going to be a finals team.

Guaranteeing positions before a review is poor practice though.

So why employ Sheens ! from today the REVIEW means nothing moving forward .. the appointment of Sheens was seen by most as a great move forward as of today he is a lame duck and all stack holders have again been treated as fools !

Sheens is never a lame duck. You won’t meet a bloke with a bigger ego and rugby league knowledge. He will run pathways and recruitment for sure and certain. There’s no way he will sit around and let others make calls.

I feel quite similar to how you do.
I can appreciate the gesture given the recent circulation of articles and probably moreso due to the sole fact we're currently on a recruitment drive, in which I can only perceive this as an attempt to steer through it and keep the ball rolling.
I only want to know the club are working through and confronting our issues.

I couldn't possibly imagine what it requires to implement an effective performance management system for a club like ours and won't pretend to understand the process.
All I know is that it's obviously multi-levelled/multi-layered in structure and the complexity of fixing our problems isn't as simple as sacking someone or ignoring it (its impact in the media when club image/ reputation is being strongly examined or critiqued).
There's also the consideration that these things occur in cycles and the required time frames for evaluating/reviewing each employee is different and therefore some actions cause setbacks without having the correct plan in place.

So yeah the recognition of our problems and limitations is a great start IMO and I'm over hearing pundits dismiss the club and make recommendations or give counsel when they know absolutely nothing about the extent of our problems.

Some will say there is so much wrong, blow the place up and start again. I think we are 2 years into that process already.

I don't know of anywhere, any sporting franchise, any organisation etc that was so broken and has completely rebuilt and leads the pack within a single season.

I heard a comment on the radio this morning that said we have had the same management for the last 5-6 years and they are to blame. Really?

Just reading an old 2015 article. Jason Taylor, Rod Reddy, David Kidwell, CEO Grant Meyer/ Phil Moss. I mean, seriously, what could possibly go wrong with that lot? How much damage do you think was being done to WT back then? And we have had another coach come and gone since along with various other staff.

An organisation being rudderless and run into the ground that hard and for that long will not turn around in 5 minutes.

The results currently are not good enough and not what we want or expect, but the foundations are at least being done correctly for the first time since the merger!

I agree with you although do you think the current management group are the ones to lead us out of this?

You could very well be right. But until now, that hasn't been tested. We've only ever had a high turn over of coaches and it hasn't worked. At some point, you've gotta hang in there.

If things were going to improve we would have seen it by now, instead we've gone backwards imo.

For Lee to come out and say, Pascoe, Madge and Hartigan are in no danger, no matter what the end of year review comes up with, is mind blowing.

It probably sheds some light on why we are a basket case. After a year from hell, we do nothing. Personally I would keep Hastigan, but the other two I would show the door tomorrow

I think we've gone forward in some areas, backwards in others. Forwards in our youngsters definitely. And in recruitment, I think AD, Laurie and Stef have been pretty good. Blore has a lot of potential, same with J Simpkin, T Simpkins & TT. We've at last got a decent goal kicker. It's defensively that we have issues and of course that has to be fixed. I don't know if Madge is the guy to sort that, but someone has to. Look through the list of players, he's brought through a bucket load of young guys and there's more to come no doubt. Young fellas aren't going to take you to the finals in a hurry. Not saying I have all the answers because Im not that clever.
