Our club can’t catch a break can it. Of all the luck, it’s always us. An off season drama every off season since 2015. You don’t have to be angry about it (I’m not) but your head is in the sand if you think the club aren’t unprofessional. The CEO can’t even be bothered dressing and grooming himself for God’s sake. But it’s the players fault. I don’t think so.

Two negs to this post shows we are still in denial.

Definitely the answer is somewhere in the middle of "this club is unprofessional" and "this player is greedy", but I'd say it's skewed more towards the former.

Haha it’s all good. I triggered a few people in denial. A badge of honour.

You don't see the problem in Aloiai's actions? Or Matterson's?

The club being unprofessional (which at times I do too believe they are,) doesn't excuse that, and doesn't mean that the club or fans shouldn't feel hard done by when a player tries to weasel out of a contract early.

Don't release him. Let him sit out the year so he gets unfit for 2022 & under performs for Manly & then doesn't regain form for the rest of his career. Dishonor your contract, we try to dishonor his career.

This club showed no ill will towards Josh, but he disrespects the club publicly. That is gutless.

The nrl needs to get tough on these bloody player managers. As Nathan Brown said, you can t sign players on good value contracts anymore.

As soon as their agents realise there is a better offer around, they start agitating with all this player welfare rubbish.

And how is Tyrone Smith's form? Gets afb to walk out on compassionate grounds and conveniently lands an extendedeydeal worth more. Then fixes Manly up with a replacement, who happens to also get an extended and upgraded deal. It's why so many players are in dispute or changing their managers.

Every one of these compassionate releases had resulted in a pay rise. Matterson, afb, JAC, now alioai. No-one ever seems to take a pay cut for their mental well being.

I don't know how, but the nrl need to get these agents under control.

Maybe they need to scrap the early release completely out of the game? If you have a contract, both club and player honour it. If a player needs a release for compassionate grounds, they can take time out of the game without pay.

In the NBA etc, clubs literally own the rights to players and can trade them wherever they like.

A lot of people seem to blaming the player or his agent. At what point do we consider why this is happening every year?

Other clubs seem to keep this stuff in house. Looks what's happened with JAC and even Dragons with Saab.

To make matters worse, our Chairman has gone on record.

100%

It may as well be that Matterson and Aloiai are just after the money. And I don't think Lee should've gone on record with this at all either. Could have tried harder to handle it in-house and control how the narrative comes out.

Did you read what was posted on here last night?

Can’t believe the posts saying let Josh leave, the teams best forward last year, big improver, his best year with the club,a leader on the field, all the players love him,why lowball one of our best?If he does go what affect will this have on the other players

He’s not exactly putting himself on a pedestal of any of that through his actions. There are ways to do things then there is this, the alioiai way

I think all parties could handle things better. You have to wonder why are we always the club that this happens to? The time has to come where we entertain the idea that we are part of the problem.

Makes me respect Gorden Tallis a little more. He didn't have many kind words for St George back in the day, but at least he had the balls and morals to sit out his contract.

Rubbish! If you say you won't pull on our jersey again when you are still contracted to us, you deserve NO respect whatsoever.

The bloke has stuck with us through injuries, drama, multiple coaches and has put up with a lot.

We don't know for sure that he even said that or exactly what has happened. We can only speculate.

What we do know is that we have a bonehead Chair that seems to be quoting the 1985 edition of Negotiating for Dummies.

This is typical Tigers. Lose Aloiai and re-sign Seyfarth.

Management are looking like the NRL equivalent of a park footy side right now.

Lee Hagipantelis needs to shut up and stick to chasing ambulances rather than offering a public commentary on the Aloiai situation.

Aloiai has performed for us and deserves some respect.

Either upgrade the bloke's contract or do a deal quietly and let him leave if someone can show us the money.

Turning it into a public drama does the club no favours.

Has he though ...... he had 1 good year . And actually this time last year I swear I remember reading many a comment from guys saying get rid of him he’s useless . The same with McIntyre . I don’t think he’s better than Tamou , I think Musgrove is better as well , he just doesn’t have match fitness . Twal was good until he got injured and didn’t look the same player , ( Twal was being talked about as a bolter for origin in 19), Mikalele suffered from second year syndrome , and Stefano is HUGELY rated .
In saying that I always rated him , so I’m disappointed . I’m just offering an alternate perspective , that I actually think is the same as management .
But sweet, I’m sure there’s a backrower there that would like an opportunity that’s of quality .
Maybe we ask for Josh Schuster who the rumours won’t go away that he wants out . They clearly aren’t sold on Paseka , and Tapau. For good reason IMO. Both could be something but have long periods of going missing . Marty seems have lost that dynamism that made him such a weapon .

Spot on.

A few years ago a journo said we didn't have "smart operators" running the club. As much as I can't stand the bloke, I have a feeling he was right.

He’s hopeless

He might come good but Aloiai carried our middle forwards last year. The next best was Eisenhuth. Aloiai has a quick play the ball and is an athletic middle forward. We haven't had one of those for a while.

Seyfarth is completely unproven in the top grade and didn't look good with the chances he got. It's way too early to write him off. It took years for Aloiai to get to this level.
