Chammas reporting Tigers offered him an upgrade to $450k a season. He rejected it wanting over $600k. After a month of negotiations they gave him a one day deadline after hearing he’d gone to manly and he chucked a fit

It’s the right decision from the club in the end. Madge and co are certainly making sure they don’t overpay for ANYONE, same thing happened with JAC. It will cost us some players but it’s needed as we’ve been in salary cap strife for too long

$450k is about right I reckon. If Manly want to pay him $700k good luck to him. But he can serve the last year of his contract here first.

Agreed. $450k is spot on.
$700k is crazy. No wonder he is desperate to get out. Dessie ruining the salary cap again

And it is refreshing to see an un-biased news article that actually explains both side of the situation.

Tapau before

I don't recall Taupau pulling this nonsense? I know he was released but I recall he asked to be released early, he did not make threats or carry on in the media.

Same with Blake Austin, he signed in advance and asked to go early.

Teddy/Moses/Woods were elite players but their futures weren’t sorted til 1/4 of their last year in. It should’ve been sorted before November 1 !

They had offers on the table. You can't force a player to sign if they want to speak to the market post November 1.

If that's correct the Club have made the right call 100%. I like JA but he has shown himself to lack scruples. We either get fair compensation from Manly or JA plays reserves.

Manly forum was iffy about paying him 500K yesterday, they don't have as active as fan base as we do though so no discussion about the above 600k asking price of JA

If Aloiai goes to Manly, Hagipantelis has said they need something in return. I want a player. Who do we go for? Outside-back? Front-rower? Halves?

For players who are still contracted that I would want are:
Keppie
Schuster
Garrick (Two birds one stone)

I would take a clean swap for Schuster. He is going to be something special I think. I like the way the chairman is handling this, especially his reference to players suddenly pulling the mental tag - just so they can get more money. Yep - agree if you have mental problems and need to leave the club. you should only be paid what was in your contract up until the time your contract would have been ended. I was going to say I wonder when our luck will turn. I suppose you need to make your own luck and not being a patsy club that players take advantage of is a good starting point.

I’m super impressed with the way Hagipantelis is talking as well. Getting on the front foot with strong leadership.

You can tell he’s had an absolute gut full of this garbage like the rest of us.

“he can mow the lawns at Leichhardt and Campbelltown as far as we’re concerned”

Feels good reading that I must admit. We need to take a stance here.

It's sort of funny how we are screaming for Aloiai to honour his 2021 contract and rightly so with the right hand while secretly fist pumping the air should Laurie be able to obtain a release and join us for 2021 with the left..

Not really.

Tigers and Penrith are having discussions about an early release. We did this with Blore.

Manly have not made any approach to Tigers and Aloiai himself didn't announce his intentions until he dropped the bombshell he wants out immediately.

Adrian Proszenko from the SMH is also a very good journalist.

Actions need to match words now

If they want a prop they can have Russell Packer. He loves the Sea Eagles that much he thought they were going to win so he walked out he had that much confidence in them.

Then. . .
