Aloiai

We cannot always make empty threats. If Josh has to be the line in the sand, then so be it. I would be content with us making his contract a war of attrition.

Agree. Hold firm.

If Manly want Aloiai that badly the Tigers should offer Rusty or The Grub for next year. Use it as leverage to clean out our roster.

Remember when we wanted to offload Gibbs and the sharks said only if Fifita is part of the deal, that scenario but in reverse would work well. You can have Garlic sauce with a side of Rusty or Grub.

“I tried to get you a contract but they said No” so he can remain friends is complete defecation.

Garbage ! It's what happened in Benji's case.

Madge told Benji to give him time and he would check it out - as if he didn't know that the decision had been made. Of course he knew, he would have been part of the decision making process.

I gave two examples in my post above re Benji and McIntyre. They fit facts as we know them.

I happy to be persuaded otherwise. Give me some counter examples, based on the facts as we know them. Until then you are just speculating. At least my "impression" (as I referred to it above) has some plausibility based on what we know.

We see things differently. I respect that.

Article on daily telegraph online warning tigers will sack alioia if he doesn’t turn up to training. Can anyone share?

Isn’t that the outcome JA would want?

Slighted Wests Tigers have warned renegade forward Josh Aloiai that they will come down extra hard — threatening even sacking — if he fails to attend training.
Dean Ritchie

Renegade Wests Tigers forward Josh Aloiai faces being fined, and then sacked, if he fails to attend the club’s first official training sessions next week.

Despite seeking an immediate release and having told club chief executive Justin Pascoe “he will never wear the jersey again”, Aloiai is expected at Wests Tigers’ first off-season training run next Monday.

Should he fail to appear on Monday morning without a medical excuse, the club’s board will consider fining him for breaking an official NRL contract agreement.

If Aloiai then fails to attend training on Tuesday, he could be immediately axed by an irate Wests Tigers.

There are official provisions in Aloiai’s NRL contract allowing for sanctions to be imposed should he miss training without a satisfactory explanation.

One source close to Wests Tigers said: “If there are repetitive breaches of the contract by a player then it could lead to termination of his contract.

“It’s a scenario the club doesn’t want to see but, by not showing up, it would force the club’s hand. The club doesn’t want to be a doormat. The clubs keeps saying — they won’t be pushed around.”

While aware an unhappy Aloiai could have a negative impact on teammates by attending training, Wests Tigers officials are determined he still fulfil his contractual obligations.

Josh Aloiai is expected to turn up to Tigers training next week.

And club management know Wests Tigers players would be unimpressed having Aloiai back inside the club’s inner sanctum.

Aloiai blindsided Wests Tigers last week by seeking an immediate release to join Manly. While some at the club claim the situation is “untenable”, officials continue to refuse a release.

Tigers chairman Lee Hagipantelis has said as far as the club is concerned “he can mow the lawns at Leichhardt and Campbelltown”.

In retaliation Aloiai photoshopped his head on a gardener mowing a lawn with the caption “I’ll make sure it’s a super fast track boys”.

There have been suggestions Wests Tigers will seek a player swap with Manly’s Curtis Sironen to return to Concord.

Sea Eagles officials are dismissing that suggestion and have no plans to release Sironen, a former Wests Tiger.

The source close to Wests Tigers said: “The club is standing strong — Josh won’t be released from his current playing commitments until there is outcome the club will accept. The club’s preference would be a player to replace him.

The Sea Eagles say they have no plans to release Sironen.

“Wests Tigers are adamant they can’t have a player of his quality just get up and walk out. They put a lot of work into Josh. The majority of Wests Tigers fans and members are onside with management over this — if you’ve made an agreement, fulfil that agreement.

“It’s not that difficult — see out your contract and then if you want to move on then move on. Clubs spend a lot of time formulating a roster and when a key players just get up and walk out, it puts the club on the back foot.

“Why should Wests Tigers suffer because a player wants to chase more money elsewhere when still under contract? I know it isn’t something the club wanted to play out in the public domain but Wests Tigers know this wasn’t their doing.”

The drama could be settled should Wests Tigers sign Brisbane forward Joe Ofahengaue.

While Wests Tigers would be reluctant to release Aloiai, the club may move on should they secure Ofahengaue, who is contracted to Brisbane for another two seasons but would be granted an early release.

If he was to get fired I would hope NRL won't allow a contract to be registered that was he gets nothing next year..

NO,,, I'm no contract expert, however. I believe he would be financially disadvantaged, stood down and de-registered by the NRL for 2021 season

I wouldn’t sack him ..
I’d just keep docking his pay and with that money I’d make him see a mind whisper or whatever they’re called ...

I'm not sure if I like the sounds of that article. Aloiai skips training, gets sacked and then shoots off to Manly. The club should stand firm until Manly produce a like for like swap.

I'm sure in reality the club aren't going to lay down and just sack him without any ramifications.

Totally agree, and if he does not play all year, he does not get paid for the season. So Tigers lose nothing by standing firm.

and if he refuses to wear the Tigers Jersey, make him wear that ugly sweater instead.
That'll sort him out.

Its simple
If average JO refuses to wear the tigers Jersey as he has said, the following should happen

If he refuses to train
1 He gets stood down from the team
2 He should recieve no pay
3 He should not play for another team until his contract time line expires
4 The Tigers should get cap relief for his contract amount to spend on another player for 2021

Its time the nrl took a stand on these players and their managers as these actions are not doing the game any good
Having average JO face his team mates will no doubt make him feal very uncomfortable, and he should not get off lightly

I doubt he would show up to training which should set points 1 to 4 in action

See post by Rusty .... that’s the process as far as I know.
No show .... His contract is deregistered by NRL and he sits out 2021.

Has anyone seen Clarkeys column on Instagram? He gives his opinion on the tigers and joshA situation and pretty much sides with josh and even references Matto saying it’s our club damaging Josh's reputation.. what’s interesting about it is both Mikalae and Talau liked the post. Makes me think, does anyone know how the team reacted to josh wanting to leave?

This confirms the need for this to be finalized by 30 Nov as required by the Club.
