Tbh the lawn mowing comment was totally unprofessional. Nothing wrong with club playing hardball, but never at any point did the Storm revert to schoolyard rubbish like that with JAC. So why do we? Well for one thing, our Chairman is a moron.

At what point did JAC Send an SMS stating he had no desire to ever wear the Jersey again?
In fact I would suggest that at no point has JAC dumped on anyone at his club , Or the club itself... (Even though his intentions to get better paid are much the same)

Chalk and Cheese - Even you can see that... Surely?

The 2 cases are totally different. Aloai is contracted to WT and JAC is not. Chairman had every right to make the comment he did. This Matterson all over again. WT have to draw a line in the sand. JAC was never really interested in coming here unless silly money offered.

Were not Aloai and Matterson close mates when they were together at Wests Tigers. Not hard to see how Matterson could have had a reaonably strong influence in the current situation.

Can someone explain to me what "sacking" him and terminating his contract does for us?

I assume it only allows him to just get a new contract at Manly without us receiving any commercial benefit?

Tend to agree nil benefit in this, might just be media speculation coming from the players manager.

would it be to stop him turning out in any way shape or form for another club? NRL management would have to rubber stamp any new contract and if he burns us like it looks like he is going to do surely it would be in our favour to simply sack him for his contractual indiscretions...If we sacked him and the nrl let him sign with Manly it would be worse than farcical

Good point but the NRL in general does not get involved in Club player disputes i assume they would rubber stamp his contract.
We all know these issues once resolved either way die down once a new season commences.

Agree 100%. The bloke is a bonehead.

The comments were no doubt designed to win fans over, although likely at the expense of on-field performance.

The best thing he could have done is a play a straight bat like we did over Cleary, saying we expect him to honour his contract and leave it there.

To top if off, we go and sign James Roberts who himself has a history of walking out on a contact with the Titans.

Aloiai is a better player than Ofenagauhaue ..we need a better upgrade or we take another step backwards in 2021

Can’t agree with that, don’t think Aloiai has ever been considered for Origin, but in any case if we can swing signing Joe O along with a straight swap of a player from Manly it would well and truly cover the loss of Aloiai, imo.

Yeah but the competition for spots in the NSW squad in the forwards is far greater than it is in the Qlder spot .....Jo O is a fringe player at the Broncos with a bad attitude I'd take Lodge back over Jo

You play Fantasy and you watch potential players closely .....I seriously don't rate Jo O

If Aloiai played for Qld he would have been in the squad before Jo

As already pointed out, the JAC talks were amicable, Storm were fully informed and permitted talks.

Aloiai had been offered big money elsewhere under contract, we refused release and refused to match the stupid money on offer and he chucked his toys out of the cot.

Apples and machine guns.

Can someone confirm where the 'I will never wear the jersey again' text came from?

I've seen claims in the thread that one of Aloiai's *mates* leaked it.

Does anyone have proof of this?

Never seen any quotes or proof of it. Mystery. Haven't seen any indication from anyone at the Tigers that he said it. Just that article without any quotes or references

He didn’t talk out on titans they forged his signature on a contract

It's turned out pretty well for the disaster you are attempting to portray. It's likely we pick up a player and or $ from the offer his manager has to make. We move Aloiai on to avoid an ongoing issue.

I'll take the step backwards thanks Hap. Don't think Aloiai is anywhere near as good myself.

I think that's exactly what "Chalk and Cheese" Means...
You seem to be agreeing with what I said - Which, to spell it out to everyone missing it....
Was disagreeing with our stance on Josh Aloiai being likened to the stance the Storm too With Addo Carr. Addo Carr was a thorough professional throughout the process, Unfortunately - the same cannot be said for Aloiai.

I think that's known as trouble with the curve ?

I reckon I know EXACTLY where it came from. One of his "mates" was here telling EXACTLY the same story, word for word, even the jersey part and claimed to "have the documents" to prove it. This "mate" was even offering to meet people to share the "proof". I DM'ed him and he sent me his phone number to call him (I didnt). It not a leap to think if this guy was offering to show anyone here the "documentary proof" that JA will "never pull on the jersey again", that he would leak it to the media.

As I said earlier in the thread, Josh needs better mates.

What ? Where did you pull that from ? The bad attitude stuff ? I’ve never heard that about him . He dropped his form the last few years , which coincidentally was the same time his missus was diagnosed with cancer .

????
You mean the contract he never actually signed, And his manager "signed" on his behalf?
He didn't walk away from it - It didn't exist... As he never signed it!!
Stay woke bro.

Why can the club not just keep fining josh if he fails to turn up for training , he they sack him he WINS , keep taking money of him WE win . Can anyone clarify this ?

Since the manager has to come up with an offer to WTs, it may well be that a player from his stable or the client of another manager is offered. We have an NRL spot and some money so the opportunity could be attractive for a good young player.

That is half the problem. The agent is playing musical chairs with his clients and getting a cut of every single contract that is signed.

When the NRL is looking for solutions to this, the starting point should be that agents aren't entitled to any commission on contracts signed (for the full duration) when a player breaks an existing contract to sign.
