Anasta signs with Wests Tigers for 2 years

Ball playing lock, genuine kicking game, extra creative link, decent defender.

If the money is right I am good with it

I've always been one of those that thought he was deserving of the "over-rated". But now he's a Tiger from 2013 he'll be awesome! lol
Funny how that happens, just look at this thread do far…
Welcome aboard Braith..

Not sure what to think of this.

BTW Anasta is bigger than Fulton and Heighno so he isn't exactly small.

And yes, Benji already plays half, 6 is just a number.

Anasta could also allow for Miller to be the half option and bring him along and release Moltzen. Financially that would make sense.

That and Braith would get third party sponsorship and already has a Fox Sports gig so not after huge coin

Anasta is just what our club needs. They should make him captain too but they won't.

PS He should have never been dropped from NSW.

Why do we need him and why would you even consider making him captain?

He knows how to win footy games and makes it happen. The Tigers don't.

Is that a jokre?? because he hasn't won much for NSW or the roosters of late.

So this now menas Benji will go to halfback which has been tried and failed before guys he WONT play 13 because he is leaving the roosters because Smith has said he doesn't want him at 5/8 because of Malloney so this is going to be a disaster

we tried Benji at 7 before and it has failed. he doesn't get the outside room at 7 it won't work. mind you the great John Morris was at 6 when it was tried.

**Braith Anasta to join the Wests Tigers on a two year deal**
by: Andrew Webster From: The Daily Telegraph March 30, 2012 12:17PM

Braith Anasta has signed a two-year deal with the Wests Tigers.

His future had been the subject of debate since the Roosters signed Warriors five-eighth James Maloney for 2013.

Ironically, Anasta and Maloney will go head-to-head at Allianz Stadium this weekend.

Negotiations with the Tigers progressed rapidly. Anasta said last month he had not discussed his playing future with any club other than the Roosters.

"If I stay here, I'll be trying to play as good as I can this year to push myself into five-eighth next year," Anasta told The Telegraph last month.

"I like the position. It's where I belong. I've played there for so long, I've played my best football there. My best years have been at five-eighth. I've spoken to the club a little bit about it [Maloney coming in 2013] and obviously he's a great player. But the way I see it, it's a long season. All I can do is play the best football I can play. I want to start the season the strongest I can and play as well as I can all year."

"I haven't looked elsewhere and I haven't spoken to anyone else," he said at the time. "I love the place and I don't want to be anywhere else. I didn't want any disruptions or any speculation about it because I wanted to nail my pre-season.

"I've kept in contact with the club, so hopefully we can sort something out for next year in the next couple of weeks. I don't know. I'll just keep meeting with them on a daily basis."

C'mon Golden, Benji has played halfback for nearly three years! The number on his shirt is irrelevant.

take a look at how we score trys off scrums its because Benji is 2nd reciever, it won't work if you have Braith there to slow the room is wasted without Benji there

Never liked the Avatar sorry Anasta, thought he was a very good footballer but just didnt like him, but i grew to like Utai so as long as he plays good football i will support him & all the best. I know it probably wont happen but i would play him @ lock.

Anasta could play 7.

Trent Barrett played both 6 and 7 during his career.

We need Anasta's kicking game and experience.

I would prefer him at lock and say good bye to Heightington.

Hopefully he can bring JWH with him to play prop.

Yeah but when is the last time we scored a try off a scrum?

In all seriousness, I think Anasta at 13 is the way to go. Gives us another long kicking option and he does run tidy lines in attack. Very good defender, too.

The thing is, we need to find a halves partner for Benji.

Wouldnt the added experience of Anasta allow Miller to be blooded properly?

Who said he was playing 5/8 anyway?

The move is likely to see Marshall shift from five-eighth to halfback next season, with Willett revealing the Tigers wanted Anasta to partner the New Zealand captain at the scrumbase.
"Braith will be playing in the halves with Benji," Willett said.
