Can people stop carrying on about youth.

Our squad had the likes of (year only not birthdate)
Ayshford 24
Grant 24
Groat 20
Humble 24
Lawrence 24
Moltzen 24
BMM 21
Politini 21
Simona 21
Spence 21
Tedesco 19
Woods 21

Some of u carry on way too much and if u had ur way we may as well replace the NYC team with the first grade team…

How many 19 year olds who have never played first grade do you want to debut in one season..come on

They should be working there way into the team and we are far from an aging side.

Absolutely nailed it.

Experience and leadership is definitely something the Tigers lack.

Braith Anasta - astute signing.

thank the lord other people understand you need senior players to teach the younger players. You cant just throw juniors to the wolves they must go through their apprenticeship or they will never improve their weeknesses. In my opinion we need another experienced frontrower for when Galloway is injured.

I'm not a fan of his, but I guess he's a Tiger as of next year and as such deserves my support.

I'm tipping Sheens plays him at half, as he has a decent boot and Benji is stifled at first receiver.

Hopefully Sheens doesn't coach the kicking game out of him.

Tigers have an underperfoming, overrated back who does not excel in any position. Now we have Anasta as well. What is going on?

no matter how much you dislike him you cant deny he always puts in and surely that will rub off on the younger guys.

maybe after we are 1 and 4 ..we will be planning for next year..

**sorry balmain Sirro,, until we get some equality back into this joint venture I dont give a rats about this year or next..not unless Humphreys and Sheens leave..like my chances of winning $20mill on Sat.**

If you don't care, then why are you here?

Well this was a surprise. Most of us only even caught wind of it a few days ago, now we're suddenly trying to imagine what he'll look like in Tigers' colours. Personally I think he's a great buy. Good all-round player with experience who still has a couple of years left in him. I always thought we'd do good with Soward in our team, Anasta is pretty much the next best thing.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Tim Sheens says Braith Anasta will bring a strong set of skills and leadership when he arrives at Concord in 2013.

Anasta today signed a two-year-deal with Wests Tigers and will join the Club upon finishing his commitments with the Sydney Roosters this season.

Sheens said there were a number of reasons why Wests Tigers looked at Anasta and was very pleased to have recruited the Sydney Roosters captain who has played for NSW and Australia.

“We liked his leadership abilities. It is like Petero Civoniceva going back to the Broncos at 35-years-of -age or Danny Buderus at Newcastle at 34,’’ Sheens told weststigers.com.au

“Braith is a great bloke on and off the field and is captain of a current NRL side. He has got that leadership and he will be part of a leadership group here so we need him to be strong.

“He is a quality person on and off the field. They are the first qualities we look for.

“As an athlete, he is 97 kilos so he is big enough. He can play in the halves in terms of a ball playing role and he can also play 13\. He brings a very strong kicking game to the Club, something we need to improve on.

“In his 238 games, he has scored 83 tries, is an established goal-kicker and he can kick pressure field goals. We only have to remember the one he kicked against us in the finals two years ago. He brings that extra direction and leadership on the field I believe the team needs.

“He is of an age and on a contract where he won’t shut out our youth program. He can move if a young Curtis Sironen, Jacob Miller or any of these kids who come into the squad nail down one of the spots.”

Sheens said 30-year-old Anasta would form part of a strong leadership group.

“Robbie Farah is 28 and Benji is 27\. I wanted that senior group. We have got a very young full-back and we have got some young forwards. We are losing Gareth Ellis and that is a loss to us in respect to extra leadership within the place,’’ Sheens added.

“You can’t continually just go young players all the time. You need to have a level of experience in a first grade side and that is something we lack sometimes because we do go too young to early.

“I’m not particularly looking to replace Benji in that (five-eighth) role but to have more skills in that area in the areas of kicking. He is a very good defender.

“Braith played second-row in the 2010 grand final. He has played a lot of positions and is very competitive and that’s what I like about him.

“Although Braith is in the twilight of his career, he hasn’t demanded a fortune and we are very happy with the deal. I believe he will bring more than value to this Club and to the team.

“I spoke to the senior players, in particular Robbie Farah and company, and they are very, very pleased to have him on board and they are ones who play against him.

“There are people in the public who say why do we go for a senior guy or why are we doing this. We have had good value out of some of the senior players we have bought in Scott Sattler and Mick Buettner.

“We are not talking about a player who is not currently producing. He is the first grade captain of the Roosters. I believe his competitiveness along with a change of environment, and with the strong group of players we have here, Braith will fit in really well.

“Braith will also bring a stabling influence in the side. All of these things will only add to make us a stronger team next year.”

Would it be safe to assume the reason we pulled the pin on the Mason deal was because Mason and Anasta had some issues at the Rorters

damn was looking forward to mason and anasta but then would remind me of 2004 bulldogs

I know I said (in jest) on another thread that I felt sick at the thought of us buying Anasta, but in reality, I'm really happy he is coming on board. As some have already mentioned, he will never die wondering because he is a player who gives his all during matches, even if things don't always go his way.

The article above talks about his experience and leadership abilities and this is exactly what we could do with here - remember the guys leading us now are still relatively young and inexperienced, by comparison. I remember watching him lead the 2010 Roosters to the GF and thinking how inspirational his leadership was at the time. They were gone in some of those games during the finals, including the one against us, but he kept rallying his team and wouldn't let them give in. Let's hope he can emulate that sort of leadership with us next year and beyond. Not the mention, his kicking game will be a huge bonus

Why such negativity towards this!! I personally thinks its a great and smart addition to our squad. He will take so much pressure of Benji and Robbie in attack and in their kicking game and gives us another threat across the park. Defensively good and a proven leader. Sheens explained the reasoning perfectly. With such a young squad his experience will be invaluable to our younger halves coming through the ranks.

Sounds like if we aren't signing the quality of a Cooper Cronk or Dave Taylor Sheens is recruiting badly!! Everyone is hung up on Adam Blair's signing, and while I agree he has yet to prove his worth, 4 weeks is not enough time to judge the decision yet. How about the recruiting of Tuqiri, Ellis, Prince, Pat Richards, Matt Utai, Todd Payten to name a few. Aswell as identifying great talent like Benji, Lawrence and Robbie Farrah. All great buys, yet you never hear the praises Sheens deserved in recruiting and developing these players.

Sounds like everyone's a better coach then the most experienced one in the comp!!

Why would you say that jokingly?
Many people are serious in their ''hatred'' towards him for whatever reason, as ridiculous as it is.
He is the most maligned player in the NRL and has been since he began, Ive always liked him…..most online armchair RL experts dont and I could never understand why.
Maybe you can help me understand the vitriol he recieves.
