Another Quick Forum Update

I want to thank both @cochise and @willow for all the efforts in trying to keep this place enjoyable.

Being a mod must be a thankless task, volunteering thousands of hours and subjecting yourself to upset posters.

I've been on here less and less lately as the boring arguments have become more prevalent.

Whoever puts their hand up to volunteer to be mod, after watching how 2 long serving mods have been treated, I'd be having 2nd thoughts. I think you'll find it's a lot harder than you think - unless you are intending to just let anything go - in which case why have mods at all?

@kul I'm all for improvement to the site - but feel like this is comparable to paying farah $600k to pay at souths. Hopefully you have a change of heart and bring back like WT have.

If you want to compare to sites like Discord - which has had massive problems with online abuse - then hope you're setting out terms and conditions for use and paying 24 hour 'trust and safety' team

*'To better protect its users and its services since these events, Discord has implemented a trust and safety team that is on call around the clock to monitor the servers and respond to reports. This includes dealing with user harassment, servers that violate Discord's terms of service'*

It's as easy or as difficult as one wants it to be.
It really isn't that big a deal being a mod... Yiu can get stuck into it and moderate like crazy or you can chill out and go with the flow.
It depends how frequent you're on here... It's an entirely personal choice.
It's not the end of the world and all this drama is purely because some people take this all way too seriously, having a crap footy team is only a small part of it.

There wasn't this much fuss when I was sacked as a mod.... I actually found it a weight off my shoulders as I had a lot of untrue accusations against me from other members who didn't see eye to eye with me.

@willow & @cochise will be OK... They join me in illustrious company 🤔
Cochise has helped me out personally in the past and I'm grateful for that.... I don't have a problem with anyone here and the only gripe I've recently had was not being able to say "BS" in a game day thread... Or even balmain soccer... Which is how ridiculous and sanitised, G- rated this place had become.... Thankfully that's been relaxed.

Don't take things said or other members too seriously and this place will continue to be a great forum.... Don't agree? Scroll on... It's easy

👊

Why is the job of Mod being referred to as a “thankless job”? If they didn’t want to do it then why would they? Until AI is up to speed, we need Human Mods. Human Mods after a while are bound to become heavily invested in various opinions and need to be rotated, I don’t see this on the same scale as a shift in the Earths axis.

Yeah it's not that big a deal

Let it all out guys.

Bring back the downvote. It does a lot to decrease negativity. Cuts out ugly replies. Can disagree without engaging the argumentative crowd.

How true is this. I love the Tigers. I've supported them for a long time. I've never really supported any other sporting team/person.

It's still only a small part of my life and it's also completely outside of my control. There is no need to get worked up about it.

It's a pretty wide held opinion that the constant negativity of this place has led to its sharp decline into what it is now. Instead of accepting that, we have the usual suspects doubling down on their naysaying and arrogance. It's like children who can't accept any form of critique, it's laughable.

Why can't we wait to see what the new forum looks like before forming an opinion? I agree with @Demps , we all have a part to play. If you throw your toys out of the cot about the changes but complain about how you long for the glory days then you're a hypocrite.

If by negativity you’re referring to how the team plays, that’s always been within the rules. There’s nothing wrong with that. It’s the way the mods hands have been tied in not being able to properly deal with posters who abuse others. If that’s the negativity you are referring to, then I would agree.

Yes the abuse is poor and has been poorly dealt with (both in terms of bans handed out for nothing and not banning enough).

But we've been through this a million times and it looks like we're having to go over this again. Your negativity, and the rest of your mates who think you have a mortgage on this place have created an environment where any discussion is stifled. That is due to your own hubris.

Accept your part in how this has all turned out. Or don't, but it's an indicator and further evidence to my point.

This is worth me starting 5 new accounts so I can upvote 5 times. Hopefully these blokes will accept they are a huge part in the decline of the site and either jog on or pull their head in.

I’d reply to this but you blocked me cos you clearly can’t handle other people’s opinions. So I won’t.

Well at least we have confirmation the block feature on the forum still works ?

Thanks to the mods and administrator for making this a great place to talk footy. Whilst there are other social media platforms forums will always serve a purpose for like minded people to share their opinions.

🙌
Great attitude.

Moderators don't control the quality of this forum, the posters do. I used to frequent this forum quite a bit a few years ago but these days just do a daily check. I honestly think the quality of poster has diminished.. OR (more likely), I find myself disagreeing with a lot of posters.

As for the moderators, I thank them but I'm sure they knew what they were getting into when they did. I've always thought that this forum is moderated way over the top. As Ink said, one of my long as posts got deleted coz it had "wtf" or "bs" in it.

Yes I know we are a Tigers forum but at the end, this forum was good because of the posters and I think 80% of the people I used to discuss things with 10 years ago have all gone away from here.

This is another one of the many many harsh realities of the problems of social media.

Yesterday a colleague of the forum made me aware of what i would call an identity theft.

A person on another forum site (League unlimited) is clearly making himself to look and appear as me, with the similar name and avatar.

And after some observations of the conversations of the posters on this League unlimited site it's clear that those posters seem to believe that the poster who is faking my identity is actually made to look as me that you see on this forum.

This is just another one of the ugly truths about social media sites, here is an image of one the conversations where that person is made to appear as if it is me.

Now, i would of thaught that innsaneink (who i believe is the same wtf innsaneink) being an ex mod. wouldn't have been so naive to beleive that this FT on League unlimited is defininately not the same FT that appears on this WTF.

Ive had my name ''stolen'' too...while I was a mod here, and by someone on LU
Yeah, its not nice, but whaddya do?
Facebook, insta etc etc...if you use them and post your fam, its open slather depending on your settings

Welcome to the internet

Now that someone has mentioned LU, I hope this decision is not just because of that thread. Really Pming others, to have a vote with over 100 users (of this forum?) About who is the most hated forum member is pathetic. That these 2 mods featured high on that and the following comments and discussions. Now there removal here it feels very much all linked...

So it looks like the discord crew are pro getting rid of Cochise , and willow , and the users of WTF are against it ? Is that a simplification ? Maybe .
It seems politicking in the background has got these 2 removed . I don’t mind that they’re gone , and in fact , I’m sure they don’t mind relieving the burden , but the way it was announced , seems pretty insensitive, considering the amount of hrs they put into it. Regardless of whether you like / agree / advocate , for them .
Honestly , if those people have politicked behind closed doors for the axing , should automatically be excluded from applying for the position .
I’d change truely is necessary , then third parties , not emotionally tied to any one faction or opinion , should be the only ones considered.

I rate Cochise and willow and enjoy their opinions. This surely is going to go a long way to them not posting on here anymore.
And as such it will reinforce the discord type echo chamber , I’ve noticed in this place for a while now .

How is that a good thing ? If the whole forum is basically reactionary hate aimed at 1 person . Eg. brooks or madge , or Nofa or sheens etc.

If getting rid of Cochise and willow is the solution then you're asking the wrong questions.

Without knowing their personal circumstances, I believe if they were empowered to do the job effectively the forum would be a more pleasant place

Well said...the smearing of these bloke who have always had the interest of this place at heart is disgraceful.

There is no doubt that this place has gone badly backwards over the last 6-12 months, but Willow & Cochise were mods prior to that. They are not the common denominator.

Very petty if that is the case
