I think @Kul should make everyone a moderator.

That was instead of downvotes and petty name calling, we can all ban each other.

Who'd be the last one standing lol?

This is a sad day for the forum. I’ll show my cards by declaring I’m a good mate of @cochise . Hi is a passionate, dedicated mod who puts hours into helping maintain standards. @willow I don’t know but he does the same. The standards on this forum are due to our mods. It’s largely a pleasant place because of them. The way these two mods were treated including the lack of communication around the changes was unprofessional and poor. They both deserve better.
I, like many, have posted less and less over the past 6 months because of the drop in standards and increase in negative and personally abusive posting. I fear this will increase. Very sad I think.

The standards on this forum are due to the mods.

The standards have dropped over the past 6 months.

Conflicting.
Anyway, change is as good as a holiday.

Same mods as when the forum was good, that is not the common denominator.

I wonder if any other new factors were introduced in the last 6 months?

I don't know mate I felt a bit disconnected from the forum for the last 6 months but our results on the field haven't really helped

That 2 long terms mods were removed without an explanation will make this my last time on the forum after being here from the beginning of it all.

Thanks to all the great mods who put up with the rubbish, particularly @willow

Very disappointed.

Bye all.

This is another one of the many many harsh realities of the problems of social media.

Yesterday a colleague of the forum made me aware of what i would call an identity theft.

A person on another forum site (League unlimited) is clearly making himself to look and appear as me, with the similar name and avatar.

And after some observations of the conversations of the posters on this League unlimited site it's clear that those posters seem to believe that the poster who is faking my identity is actually made to look as me that you see on this forum.

This is just another one of the ugly truths about social media sites, here is an image of one the conversations where that person is made to appear as if it is me.

Now, i would of thaught that innsaneink (who i believe is the same wtf innsaneink) being an ex mod. wouldn't have been so naive to beleive that this FT on League unlimited is defininately not the same FT that appears on this WTF.

Ive had my name ''stolen'' too...while I was a mod here, and by someone on LU
Yeah, its not nice, but whaddya do?
Facebook, insta etc etc...if you use them and post your fam, its open slather depending on your settings

Welcome to the internet

So, to the mods and administrator who may be listening now could you perhaps give us some advice about what we can and should do about this problem of other people stealing your name and using it on other forums such as LeagueUnlimited.when their purpose obviously is just to make you to appear as you are attacking this forum and the posters here?
[/QUOTE]

Mods and Admin are really no different to the majority of members here
Theres no experts.
All I would suggest is you join LU and point out to others whats happening, though
really I dont think anyone else really cares, ignore it and it will go away, keep feeding it
and it remains

@Kul dream of the board being drama free   :grin said:
Good luck with that
Im still seeing Wests/Balmain stuff today, this morning in fact (not here, FB}
Thankfully not much of that here anymore but it took a good decade and a half or more
for most of us to grow out of that one.
Never was...never will be drama free

Maybe the standards would be worse without those mods.

There's still mods though mate, there's also forum rules just a new direction like I've said give it a chance

Of course I will give it a chance; but I see no issues with what any of the mods have been doing to date - be that "in the good old days" or more recently. It's not as if the mods have substantially changed recently, or changed their application of the rules - it's the same folks who were doing the thankless task month after month.

Personally I believe, and I've said this before, that since COVID and other societal issues of the past few years, social media has become more and more toxic. The forum is just the tip of a very big iceberg of negativity and bulldust, with most of the ballast provided by Facebook, Instagram, twitter and the like. And I can understand why... a lot of worried, weary, impacted people. But I think also social media has become a negative outlet for people's own frustrations and emotional issues, and I think people have become more and more bold about using online anonymity as a mechanism for venting in a manner which they would never dare do face-to-face.

So I don't like that some mods have been effectively retired in public and without consultation. I think that's bad form. It shows the true colours of the forum - it's a benevolent dictatorship, and therefore anyone who is asking for "more free reign" or more light-handed moderation is forgetting that ultimately it still comes back to the powerbroking and ownership of a very select few people.

Well said

I've done nothing but campaign for less negativity and less bitterness from people on the forum for a while now which is the same direction Kul is heading 👍🏻

There seems to be a massive discrepancy on what negative means. Some take it as negative opinions on the team itself. Well that’s going to happen when you follow a club that hasn’t made the finals for 10 years. And its just a footy based opinion, agree or disagree. Others take it as people who offer no opinion and just troll, or abuse others. So which definition of negative would you be referring to?

Now that someone has mentioned LU, I hope this decision is not just because of that thread. Really Pming others, to have a vote with over 100 users (of this forum?) About who is the most hated forum member is pathetic. That these 2 mods featured high on that and the following comments and discussions. Now there removal here it feels very much all linked...

Very petty if that is the case

Sounds like a conspiracy theory to me

Idk if I’d go far to call it a conspiracy, but there were posters who clearly knew what was happening before Kul announced it.

Who?

At the end of the day we're all Tigers fans.
Lighten up and when we win the premiership next year we can all "celebrate" again

Whoever thinks the forum might be heading in the wrong direction should apply to be a mod and help steer it the right way.

This reminds me of the way my parents carried on when Gough got the
arse and Big Mal got the free ride...but they were both union reps so unnerstannable.

The same mods that said you were the problem and confirmed discord is just an app no different to if Facebook messeger was used instead ?

I thought you had some self awareness.

How about your ongoing harassment of @compensate for a year that no mod bothered to check you about.

Give it a rest mate.

Ive just finished reading through this whole thread and this seems as good a place as any to jump and drop my $0.20 worth.

Firstly, I think the sacking of Willow and Cochise has been disgraceful and is very reactionary and based on malice. There is a fair argument that the place has been going backwards and that Kul wants to make corrections and like he said in this thread he has asked for applications, but in that case why wouldnt you open up all positions and why just sack those two? They have been a big part of why this place has been a great place to share opinions and IMO are not the reason for the descent of this forum.

There are many here who will say and think that I have been part of the demise of this forum and people are entitled to that opinion. I have butt heads here with quite a few, but I can say honestly say that for most here that I have butt heads with here, it was over opinions and for most, in the end, the fact that both parties held that opinion, without the need to personally attack, I respect and in all these cases I have gone on to respect these posters whilst not necessarily agreeing with them. These people include @Earl, @cochise , @jirskyr , @formerguest and a few others.

On the other hand, lately there has been a pretty disgraceful campaign that is the pretty big elephant in the room that cant be ignored as much as some try to. Over the last few weeks/months there has been a pretty nasty campaign where pretty horrible things have been said about me, Cochise, Willow, GNR and few others over three different media platforms. Nasty personal stuff. In addition there was one poster here that doxxed me and posted my personal FB details here, and the now sacked mods cleared it up. I have no idea if that person also posted my personal details in Discord or other places.

This nasty campaign has been carried out, encouraged and facilitated by members here. There are members here right now, in this thread saying conciliatory things like "Its just a footy forum, its ok to disagree, everyone is entitled to their opinion, lets just see how this all turns out etc etc etc" that have either been directly responsible for this campaign or encouraged or facilitated it.

Yes it is just a football team and yes everyone does have an entitlement to an opinion, different or otherwise, but it seems that for a handful of us (or the "top 13") this doesnt apply and some people here can make platitudes whilst doing this on the other hand.

Demps you raise my "harrassment" of Compensate. I never attacked Compensate personally. Compensate made (IMO) an error quite a while ago here on the forum and I repeatedly referred back to it. I acknowledge that I probably overdid it. Compensate was banned for attacking me personally.

THere is something very wrong with this forum and it is a shame because it was a great pace. What is wrong with this place is NOT Willow & Cochise. What is wrong with this place is existing members personally attacking other members here and across other platforms, members here encouraging it whilst posting platitudes here and members here sharing personal information in DM's to a third party for that third party to use to attack someone (happened to me twice). That is what is wrong with this place. It is a shame to see poor behaviour rewarded.

I will be leaving this forum next couple of days (Im addicted enough that Im interested in the fallout of this decision) and no one will lament it. To a smallish group here... you win. Congratulations.

Even though you and i have disagreed on many issues in the past and will undoubtedly continue to do so i have to agree with nearly everything you say here.

Wow, @cochise and @willow removed as Mods by @Kul

Been on here for 8 plus years after being a "guest" as it was known at the time for a while prior and the only break from it was recently when the change became more and more apparent.

I have both agreed and disagreed with almost every single poster during that time, some vehemently and have had to stop myself to not dominate threads or keep them on track. Also complained about the censorship of BS etcetera, backed the likes of @JC99 @Demps @compensate and others over bans and similar matters whilst never being part of, nor seeing anything that resembled a proper clique or group mentality until in my opinion it started rooting here earlier this season, even splintering off to allegedly dis on fellow forumers.

I mention these three due to earlier stuff in this and other threads of the past 24 hours, the latter to some perceived conflict with @cochise and the former as I do not believe that I have had any clashes with any, so there should be no bad blood between us and hopefully that can remain after my observations to follow, including that I often read some posters as coming across differently when they are 'alone' for want of a better term.

Again, these are my observations and trust that they will be received as that with open minds, as, as others have mentioned the ongoing huge societal health issues, along with the social media 'echo chambers' that one can unwittingly find themselves in can and do have great effects on many of us. I'll use the word unwittingly again, as I feel that is how the journey to the divide that began when @Demps returned.

Got a problem with a water leak, so will attend to it and get back to this later.

I've been here since the beginning with Sincas' site in balmain days where the same ranting and dragging of arguments was just as common as today. I don't think much has changed in all that time except there seems many more participants which means many more dribblers. There's always been personal sniping and petty bickering. Early wests tigers forum days was all balmain v wests etc (which I was a big contributor to, unfortunately).

I suspect whatever you try @Kul, it is unlikely to produce any improvement to the bickering and bitterness. That's partly a reflection of the modern internet world, and also just how forums have always been. I've never been on discord and don't use twitter so have no idea about what sort of changes you're suggesting. I like this forum because it isn't like those other somewhat more chaotic places. I also had no problem with cochise and willow and I appreciate their efforts doing an (presumably) unpaid job.

All that said, really like the forum and appreciate you spending the time keeping it going. Such sites do so much more for fans than any of the corporate advertising and supposed membership benefits delivered by the club. And so it's yours to do with it what you like.

One suggestion might be to have a more moderated regular area, and then a looser and private members only section where a more confrontational and loose style could be adopted. Call it the 'bear pit' or something and have a warning on it so people going to it do so with the understanding that personal attacks and such are more acceptable. In creating this, it then allows the rest of the place to stay cleaner of such vitriol and mods can delete or move those sort of posts to the more private and restricted section with less sense of resentment that freedom of speech is being restricted.

But I'm mainly just requesting you don't change it too much. There's a lot of rubbish on here, but it's still good.
