Yeah I feel the same. In the early years of the merger I was still very pro-Balmain but over the years there's history to be shared between the two clubs. I definitely have a big soft spot for Tommy and the Magpies of the 70's.As a rabid Balmain fan growing up, the best way for both clubs to succeed long term is together.
The Wests' catchment is a goldmine and we're only just (finally) scratching the surface on an absolute wellspring of talent. Make no mistake, if the sides were to split, Wests would be the powerhouse.
I've also become quite fond of the magpie and the Wests history and ethos.
It's like the step brother you learn to love as you grow up together.
Go the mighty Wests Tigers.
Blue wiggle bored with plenty of money to play with.
Only if it involves putting shit on WT.Does the media normally report what someone says they would do if they were billionaires?
Agree, if the support base could all just accept the Wests Tigers, that's including all the board members, are one club now. We would find it much easier to start kicking on. Balmain and Western Suburbs don't exist in the N.R.L anymore. It's not really fair but it is the reality of the situation. Blue wiggle wants to tear the joint in two again, what about the kids who only know Wests Tigers. It's laughable. I reckon it will take another 20 years or so for the Wests Tigers to become one united club finally, unfortunately the dinosaurs are stubborn and will prob need to die off before it happens though. So we don't have to hear about the merger every couple of months. This is the only post fired up enough for me!
Neither club has a future as a small Sydney club, they failed for a reason.
WTs biggest issue is that the same dinosaurs from both sides have been involved for the last 23 years. If I could buy WT I have some "ideas" too, but they mostly can't be published.
It'd have to be an inclusive team with a mandated percentage of LGBTQ players. The demographic of Balmain has changed so much you'd probably get local opposition to the reinstatement of the Balmain team.
I’m ancient and I don’t have that feeling,100% WT.Older balmain fans will always have that feeling
I certainly dont. They are both as useless as each other and as hopeless as the Wests Tigers are, they would be exponentially worse if broken up and the foundation clubs re-emerge.Because Balmain stuffed up their finances with the redevelopment and Wests had to save the day... and I'm a Balmain supporter. Can't go blaming this on Wests alone.
Poorly timed from Antony. I like the guy, but he's like your wife dragging up something from 10 years ago. Move on!! We're Wests tigers.
