Post match press conference - very happy. Spoke about having to back it up now. Explained his reasons for putting Doueihi in the centres - indicated the backs weren't getting enough ball with Adam at 6, so moving him into the centres gave him two strong edge runners in Lucy and Adam.

Stood up for Brooks, can't believe the amount of hammering he cops on social media. Spoke about Tamou, Joffa, Mikaele, Seyfarth all performing...Asked about the sin bins...sat on the fence.

Thought Mbye was passive but distributed well, Brooks looked good and it highlights how good NRL players are because given just that little bit more space than most teams allow Brooks looked threatening. Doueihi at centre looked good and stretched the field in the way Maguire obviously intended. Forwards mostly had the newcastle pack well contained. So really happy overall with the way we played, and I was very critical of the changes, but I'm not convinced until it works against a good team.

My concerns: Brooks mostly kicked well but also missed a penalty to touch and I expect him to be more erratic when there's more pressure (as he's always been). Doueihi is still our best kicker and that's lost at centre.

Mbye is really passive. You can carry him in a game like tonight, let's see how it goes in harder matches.

My criticism on the team was around Madden on the bench, not about AD moving. I prefer AD at center, him at 5/8th the backs don’t get the ball as he is a run 1st player not an instinct spread player.

I wasn’t a fan of Seyfarth picked ahead of others. Seyfarth had his best game for us.

Well done to the team & Madge finally get them right. Now lets do it for a few games in a row.

Chip, chase and regather to score. I'm sure they'd let you hit the showers early if you managed to do that.
Either that or do something stupid to get sent off before fulltime. Too easy.

I've never bagged Madge, but did have my reservations about the team list initially.
The Tigers played like a team tonight, whether that's due to Madge getting them up or not, who knows. But I'll take any win regardless of how.
Here's hoping the boys are motivated to play with the same passion and pride in weeks to come.
