The trouble with losing is you get use to it and It doesn't hurt so bad. I know I have - there was a time I couldnt sleep after a loss - not anymore. This is what concerns me most about Brooks- seems to have accepted his lot which is no good for us or him.

They’re not a top 4 squad but they’re also nowhere near as bad as they have been in the first two rounds. There is no structure and they don’t seem to care - there is no motivation.

With the exception of Mbye every player yesterday was signed or re-sigGreat ned by Madge. This is his 3rd year at the helm and we’ve seen a gradually better roster contrasted with a consistent decline in performances. Regardless of his previous success, he’s been unable to get this team going. We look worse than last year.

This is what irritates me so much. Why are they getting worse? We have a significantly better roster than years past but aren't even putting up a fight

Even though they lost yesterday, the Sharks tried their absolute guts out for an unheralded coach under a heap of pressure. That’s a team playing for their coach that genuinely cares.

From memory, and I could be wrong, but Tamou didn't immediately steer the ship around upon his taking over of the Captaincy at the Panthers. They were still losing for a while after that, but gradually, things turned, and the momentum grew. (Not excusing our teams performance yesterday though. That was seriously disappointing)

I just don't think the coach is the issue. Our team is not strong. I know the pre-season allows you to imagine how good it could be, but the reality is that we don't have good players.

The really good thing about the recruitment and what must be madge's approach is that we're signing promising players on reasonable contracts and building a team. That is our approach, and it makes sense because we can't get the superstar players, and even if we could I don't know that we have a good enough squad to make that be worthwhile anyway.

So, everyone's having a go, but what else can be done? The players he has bought have mostly shown promise, and those who aren't that good aren't on big or long term contracts. Again, that seems smart.

Today wasn't coaching, we have a weak squad going up against one of the heavyweights in the comp who are in brilliant form. Obviously they could have played better and they haven't started well but you all have to stop being so reactionary.

If I could get Bennett or Bellamy or Robinson I'd sack Madge, otherwise there's a bunch of good enough coaches out there who wouldn't make a bit of difference to this team.

Well Mate, I usually do not agree with most of your posts..... (I'm going to be dumped on from a great height - that's ok if it makes you posters feel better)

However apart from your last paragraph (don't think those three coaches you mentioned would make much difference, when you have some of the players they have had, it is easy to look like a superstar, don't think they would look like superstars with rosters and cap problems), you are pretty spot on.

Most of the posters on here (after round two after playing 2 of the best teams in the comp) have, or want to hit the panic button.

Most for various reasons, permanent negative Nellies, agenda driven, Madge haters, impatience, etc. etc. I think one of the biggest problems is starting a thread like this to begin with, ridiculous! If that is not on your wave length GNR - Tough.

If the Club follows most of the thoughts on this thread - it is no wonder they don't make the eight.

I have followed this club for 70 years - win lose or draw. No one ever said over all those years some of the comments that arise on here. You accept mediocrity, they gave up, the coach has lost the players ...yadda, yadda, yadda.

They always do the best they can, under the circumstances as far as I am concerned (with the exception of that little slimy scumbag that is) - If you can't see that it will take time....

Don't need a thousand word post debating all aspects of what is a very basic rugby league situation

You judge unity when a team is under pressure.

We have none.

We have a massive issue with this squad be it coach or whatever.

This is also a valid line of thought. Beginning with easier games allows teams to work on combinations, more easily getting back into rhythm after being scored against, see the positive outcomes from working that bit harder etc.
Playing a couple of the top 4 teams that grind you into the dust can't be good for morale. It seemed that several players were just going to cop the loss yesterday as a given, not much worked for them in attack or defence and they were powerless to stop the tide.

Hopefully they see some hope for the Knights game and are better committed. Madge and co need to be working overtime on mindset this week.

There really are some worrying signs about the playing group and the coach.

We are not responding well to mistakes, its been a problem at this club for years but the coach set out to improve this yet when we make mistakes or a call goes against us we turn to water. We are showing no signs of strength or growth in this area.

Secondly we look an unhappy team. Im seeing no one other maybe Daine Laurie smile and show signs they are enjoying their footy. They really look a miserable lot.Miserable.

Lacking passion, heart, look disjointed. They dont look like they enjoy each others company, their is no team spirit and playing for each, high fiving each other, encouraging each other.

I could go on but i think most people are seeing this now.

Something is seriously wrong behind closed doors.

The coach is always in the firing line when a club gets to this level of dysfunction.

Im a big Maguire fan, i think his general manger and recruiting and retention has been outstanding. But that means absolutely nothing if they players arent responding to the day to day and game day coaching!

I said the same thing as I walked away, nobody really looks happy out there. Like they are there because they are required to and that’s it. Daine Laurie the exception

One team was winning and smiling, one team was losing and not smiling - seems pretty normal to me.

Last week the majority of Forumers were getting up Garner for smiling after giving away a penalty - this week majority are getting up the team for not smiling and enjoying themselves, when most were playing badly.

You can't have it both ways.

Yes, it's called comradery, cohesion, knowing what the guy next to you is going to do before he does it and experience as a team that has played under adversity a number of times e.g. how to dig yourself out of a hole.

It needs time to put all that together for a team that has only played two NRL games together (one game for the spine).

Anyone who expects a new team to come out winning against two of the heavy favorites for 2021 - is being totally unrealistic.
