Balmain Leagues Club

It will be interesting what they call it. The current clubs are Wests Ashfield, Croydon Sports and Markets Club. There is no real naming link been the three.

Relax.

We will call it Wests Tigers leagues with some Balmain afililiation.

There will be Balmain memorabilia more than likely as well as WTs.

Wests Ashfield with a Wests Tigers afililiation will not be touched.

And no, we will not call everything the Tigers, drop the white and play solely out of Leichhardt oval.

Which is exactly why they will rebrand all the clubs. The current approach is beyond absurd

Or if you want to keep the Wests name, Wests Tigers for the same places.
Which is exactly what's it's planned to be. Wests Tigers Leagues Club Balmain. Wests Tigers Leagues Club Ashfield etc. That will be the official titles.
There may be the colloquial lingo of Tigers Balmain etc, but they won't ever officially call it that

This leads to my earlier point, why not have a common thread ie Tigers Ashfield, Tigers Croydon, Tigers Balmain and Tigers Campbelltown.
That’s 21st century marketing in my books.
Why not call it Tigers Rozelle?

And Tigers Wests?

yet we have to watch the wests tigers name be dropped in reserve grade and Magpies used, that is ok then...

Quite ok with calling it Tigers Rozelle or Wests Tigers Rozelle. Like Wests Ashfield is fine, but then make it Wests Rozelle.
Mate, I’m an old Balmain fan from way, way back but any/all my comments are totally focused on moving forward and are not about nurturing the past.
I’m not suggesting it becomes a Balmain thing, just that common branding ( whatever it is) acts in pulling it all together and makes sense in this day and age. I’m comfortable with whatever name they decide on, just as long as it’s consistent.
We are the Wests Tigers, or Tigers for short. It just seems to me that is the symbol of our club, so use it.
Same as having all teams play as Wests Tigers and not Magpies etc.
One club , one dream imo.

I agree with the unity sentiment but see calling everything Tigers when most people don't see us as a tri colour just black and gold and with many on here wanting all our home matches played out of LO, that isn't the Wests Tigers or unity.

You see we could even call everything Wests for short right, say Wests Rozelle, Wests Ashfield, Wests the team and imagine if the gold was excluded...see the problem . And no, that isn't the intention but just like you are an old Balmain supporter I am an old Wests supporter .......so we both need the link.

Remember, taking the Wests and white out leaves only Balmain.......what's in it for us?

And we are paying.

What's wrong with Wests Tigers leagues-Balmain?

Remember we are happily funding your junior league.....and promoting Balmain memorabilia and history.

Rick was quite clear at the extraordinary meeting that we have ,given repeated attempts by others in the past to drop the Wests Magpies no intention to take advantage of the situation to cancel Balmain and indeed that's why we support your history and juniors.......we took no joy from Balmains insolvency.

It was mentioned many times we want to continue to maintain Balmains identity in our JV. This is important not to disappoint or exclude.

As for the reserve grade team the intention there was that, there is an obvious slant in tbe press and in the football public that the WTs are more of a Balmain thing......this is a way to promote Magpies heritage and identity a little in a non threatening way to Balmain fans......after a time the intention is to revert to a WTs reggies brand once the identity balance is addressed.

Now considering we are paying for everything don't you think this a good deal.

Often wonder what would have happened to the Wests branding in the WTs if the situation was reversed?

I mean come on.....Tigers everything wearing black and gold.

Socialist right.😆😆😆😆.

To be honest I think Wests Ashfield are doing a good job trying to adopt the history of Balmain , now that they are in this position. I think the establishment of the Holman Barnes Group is a sign of this and having an overarching group like this responsible for the Leagues Clubs allows them to keep separate identities while becoming more unified.

I would though have loved for this club to be Wests Tigers branded and not Balmain but I think this is Wests Ashfield trying to recognise the importance of Balmain.

Neglected to mention this very important well thought out aspect, the HolmanBarnes group.

Sorry BB but we were two prod clubs, now we are one.
Penrith have used the Panthers brand, rather than Penrith for their clubs, because it caters to supporters everywhere, eg Bathurst, Port Macquarie etc.
I’m afraid, at some point, all us old supporters have to let go and move on. And as for paying the bills, that’s just a fact of life.
We're a joint venture. Our whole structure and existence is completely different to Panthers. You can't compare the two
