Balmain & Wests - Stone cold Broke ?

Bakerloo,
How is the Balmain DRLFC structured compared to the Balmain Leagues board? A**lso, how is their junior League Board structured? I know in years gone by it was a representative from each junior club.** Is that still the case ?

Senior committee member rep of each club, BRLFC and Balmain referees representative make up the Jnrs board

So,
If assumptions are allowed to be made, unless there is a massive amount of sponsorship of the BDRLFC, it does look like they may be in a position where the WT might takeover all operations.

Which leads me to the Wests Magpies. I guess we will find out more about them on Saturday.

Now I can see why this big push has come about for everyteam to be called Wests Tigers. Is it the case that Balmain dont want to look as if they are folding and Wests are not ??

Its the nature of the beast.. As stated in the mega thread, if wests magpies can financially stand alone in nsw cup (and balmain cant) then why cant they then be the sole feeder club for WT and keep the magpie brand alive.

Wests Magpies can stay separate anyway. The Wests leagues clubs in Ashfield and Campbelltown make enough profit to keep the Magpies alive in the NSW Cup. Wests Campbelltown should help fund the Wests Magpies NSW Cup side though.

Alien,
It sounds easier than what it is. We will find out more on Saturday.

No chance. Wests Campbelltown would much prefer to align themselves to the Wests Tigers brand than Wests Magpies. They also make a significant contribution to the local rugby league junior competition.

No batboy. It will be a tragedy.

I've said since the JV started the ultimate for me would be to see Wests Tigers all the way from top to bottom ie from seniors to juniors, leagues clubs and football clubs.

Balmain should cut ties with Ryde Eastwood, get out of the two clubs at Flemington and Drummoyne and whatever proceeds they get join forces with Wests at Ashfield and call it Wests Tigers Leagues club. The Cambo club should also be so named.

Yes its probably a bit fanciful but only then will we all be truly united not as a joint venture anymore but as ONE CLUB ….... I remain hopeful one day this will happen.

Yet they want the Wests Magpies NSW Cup team to play their home games at Campbelltown Stadium.

A unified balmain and wests club (both football and leagues clubs) is logical but myself and other magpie diehards can only accept it if the wests brand is given a genuine 50/50 representation within WT. Things like playing only in heritage balmain and wests strips in nsw cup every week would be an idea. A annual Heritage WT game at campbelltown… Better positioning of the magpie on the sleeve. These may sound petty to some but i think its 100% justified when the wests group puts in 3/4 of money and juniors yet gets less then 1/4 of the "recoginition"

3/4 of the money? what you on about. Both joint venture partners put the same in, always have and always will (if required).

Some of the ideas thrown around are straight from la la land I think.

 Forget W.A. Magpies. What about Magpies moving to Ipswitch! That way they could still be called Western Suburbs Magpies because Ipswitch is west of Brisbane, and people say Ipswitch is the Campbelltown of Brisbane.

Agreed… No one likes going to Ipswich either!!!

We will find out more on Saturday.

If I was a betting man, I would say that there will be a WT State Cup side that will take over the role that BRET plays in the WT Structure, and if money can be found somewhere, a Wests Magpies State Cup team also.

What do you think the chances are of St. George Illawarra NRL squad players playing for Wests Magpies?

It's already a done deal, unless the Dragons decide to go somewhere else
