Talking about crying with your pal on national TV, cause youre upset youre leaving your mates to go 30km down the road to earn several hundred thou a year is sooking at its finest.

These blokes wouldnt even know what ''doing it tough'' is.
Ask the bloke thats been laid off, retrenched, injured and cant work, the bloke with three kids and a 600k mortgage and the bank sending them letter after letter, ask the bloke feeding his family noodles for dinner what tears are.

Drama queen?
Maybe….but its true.

Get a grip Benji, Ryan

Get some perspective.

X2\. He's just changing employment. We are truly a club FILLED with softies.

Very well said Ink.

Much respect to the guy for not taking the teeing off at the club option like so many would though.

I have said it a couple of times but all of this points to the fact the clubs culture as a collective is pathetic and needs to be changed. Nothing against any of the players individually but as a group their is too much focus on the me and not enough focus on the team and the job at hand

Just watched the interview, Beau initially says he loves the club and Tim Sheens, but then sure did gloss over when he said "The Coach, was well, he's got a lot going on" when he told everyone he was going.

But there sure is a lot wrong with management, a lack of communication among other things. Beau says not everyone is on the same page.

all i know is,when the going got tough,he put his hand up and took on the hard yards.
took the hits and looked for the next positive action.

the same with rhino.

i hope that is how you remember them, and not just as sooks.

I think he was genuinely upset. I've no doubt he loved it here, I also respect him for not having a dig at us when he might have.

But, I also think he simply found a better deal and took it. Whether he felt wanted or not, if he loves the place and is shattered surely he would have exhausted every opportunity to resign. I'm sure he felt stuffed around and like he had no choice, but after one meeting, that's one meeting with Flanagan his mind was made up!?

He/his manager found a better deal. Good luck beau, sincerely all the best

Quote for truth.

You can't ask players to buy into a team mentality, to ask them to play on when hurt, force themselves to get up and back on the line to not let their mates down….then whinge that they take things personally.

Sure they can feel that way. But going on national tv and saying you cried and are distraught over it and half pie bag the club for doing it is a bit much IMO.

There's not alot of talk about the Footy Show's role in all of this.

They gave a significant amount of time to this particular issue in their last show before the big Grand Final show at Allphones Arena. They would have told Benji that they're spending 10-15 minutes on this, and of course, the more you talk about it, the more emotional you'll become and you'll probably say some things you wouldn't had that situation not been constructed.

ADD TO THIS the questioning. "How'd you react when you told Benji?" "Benji must of been close to tears…" "Things have changed to quickly, it must feel surreal". Fatty and Michael Slater created an emotional environment, and 2 blokes in their 20's are likely to get a little caught up in it all for the camera.

SECONDLY, this is sport. This isn't like losing a workmate, where you can just hang out afterwards. You live with your team mates. You're training most days, your bonding, preparing for games on the day etc. It's a massive loss to have good friends leave you in a sporting environment.

The other critisicm made by insaneink comparing this situation to people getting sacked and retrenched is ludicrous. THESE GUYS ARE UNDER 30\. Do you expect them to really be able to handle these kinds of situations any differently to how they are? They're young guys, pushed around my the media to get raw emotion that makes good television. There's a lack of empathy in this thread.

I just think if these guys think this is as tough as it gets to warrant tears and admit it on TV….they dunno what tough is....
I'd think they do....facing a Manu Vatuvai at full pelt....thats tough and I couldnt do it.

But boy....theyve some growing up to do....yes bismark youre right, theyre young....however I think theyre spoilt, to be hypocritical and take some of my own advice I gave Yoss....I could never imagine hearing this from Jnr, Hemsley, Blocker, Dallas (rest his soul) Tommy or Arthur Mountier etc etc

I gues we all have different opinions on what ''doing it tough'' just is.

Most of them are in their late 20's, hardly what i would call young.

Don't be surprised if Benji leaves the club as well…

if he does over this then good!…and he can close the door behind him...I'm sick of the way our players carry on in the media!...

We'll never know, but I wonder if their "toughness" would have been affected by massive exposure to the media + media training from 20 onwards.

Mate, I was involved in jnr footy for some time, I saw the way the very talented kids were treated, special treatment, egos galore, no accountability a lot of the time

Media has nothing to do with it

Exactly who are the sooks? Whenever someone signs with another club, some people always blame the player leaving.

Seriously, when your management is bad as ours clearly is, what are the chances it's not their fault? Which of you blokes would happily show loyalty to your employer who had a reputation for empty promises and didn't reciprocate loyalty?

The real sooks are the dummy spitters here who [This word has been automatically removed] at every player who leaves the club.

Gee, some of you blokes can overreact! How dare he express any reservations about any decision involving the club. Seriously.

With any luck he'll blossom under a new coach and live up to his potential. If he doesn't, then we will ultimately know that he was part of the problem.

Yep, sooks deluxe, both Beau and Benji.

Seems to me that Beau thought he was more important than he really is to the team.(not feeling like he was a priority and all) Also looks like the club called his bluff when his manager used an offer from the sharks to get them to panic.

Good luck at the sharks Beau.

Back in the old days of orana park I remember when young pistols McGee was poached by another filthy club for more money we said good onya, went to the pub to celebrate his good fortune, then we took his head off in rd1 the following season. No crying. Those were the days.
