Benji "I've got to weigh up all my options"

Although I agree that their partnership is amazing. We can't rely on it. What if one is injured? what if one is poached? Lot's of possibilities. That's why the club is trying to play them apart from each other as often as together. I mean, there are other reasons behind it like playing with men. But imo, playing apart is good to guage their actual worth.

Fair point. It would be naive to think we could rely on them as a tandem team. Sure, that's the plan but it's a fair point noting that the club has got them playing apart probably more often than not this season. The plan with Brooks is obviously a little more advanced than with Moses. Brooks could well get the starting job next season providing he ticks all the boxes.

Can't remember if it was a direct quote, but I think Potter will try and get a 2nd tier exemption to play Brooks this season. Mayer said if we played him we'd go over the 2nd tier.

Smoking Gun given your track record I do believe you are in the know.
Any chance you can spill on the Simona, Brooks & Moses? Will they be re-signing?

It's interesting to hear SG's insight as he has always been pretty spot on from what I've seen. Thanks for the info mate. It does help to get a perspective on where Benji is coming from.

I'm not sure about the 700k figure tho from the Dogs etc. - even if you were invovled, that figure would have come from his manager or Benji to inflate the Tigers offer. Unless you saw their written offer, I would be doubting it.

It's obvious what Benji gives the club. He seems like a good bloke and the Tigers wouldn't be where it is today if it wasn't for him. But do you really think we will win a premiership with him calling the shots? Over the last few years, i've seen way too many brain snaps when the game is on the line. If an extension comes with Benji taking a subdued role and also subbing minutes with Moses, then I can see a deal. He can't be the key playmaker for the next 5 years at current form. He needs to show improvement before a deal like that!

Either way, the club should upgrade him for the next 2 years. There is no doubt about that. I just hope he accepts what they offer.

I agree with everything you said. Benji shouldn't be the key playmaker, we just need a commanding halfback so desperately.

Its good to have you back SG, every time you claim you're leaving i worry that you might actually be for real.

This x2.

who was the legendary Tiger99?

Just sick of what's going on here. Benji is employed to play football for the West Tigers. The less talk about increasing his pay or extend his employment the better. He has 2 years more to complete his existing contract. Let him do the job he is employed first.
By doing his job, he could be considered for anything, not fulffilling what he is employed for means he won't be worth anything. Why should Benji be different from any employee, do the job he is employed for?

Benji thru his manager is trying to up the ante before the WC,if he gets dropped to the bench or not selected at all his $ worth is going south big time. Benji is/was a very talented footballer and has given us years of loyal service but at the moment despite flashes of brilliance is overall form is barely that of a first grader IMO., so a tough call for the board if he persists in trying to milk us for more money.

Gotta laugh at all these hypocrites up in arms, upon their soap boxes having a crack at Robbie for talking about player recruitment in the media, and yet there are dozens here fawning & begging some anonymous internet ID that posseses a vivid imagination, wanting exactly the same thing.

Pathetic

Yes he will

Keep the scoops coming SG. He is contracted for the next two years and the competing only competing offer on the table is for less money. Big call to say he will be here in 2014!

Is there any players were in talks for to sign with us for next year ??

I am more interested in the dead wood we can shift out by next year… Not knocking you at all, but it is funny how different people have different perceptions on improving our roster.
