Benji Marshall #70

He can get his $150k in marketing and promotions for the Tigers. No one would begrudge that.

But he wants to play. Some people are just intent on playing and good luck to him. Thats his choice.

But there is no need to try and crucify the WT's whenever we don't meet his needs or wants

I think he is a bit of a sook. I really like him. He has given this club so much. Last year though his defense was terrible. I'd be happy for him to play Reggies only if he desperately wants to play but I don't want him anywhere near the first grade team. We need to move on.

It would be a poor move imho in having Benji playing reggies with us.The media would start agitating for him to play first grade especially if we were not playing well.As a club we dont need that criticism and media attention.
The docile dogs would be his best bet if he wants to continue in Sydney as his brother is there and he would be helping a team of cellar dwellars, sure it would be behind an impotent pack of forwards but he would still be getting first grade games there he wont anywhere else

And would most likely have josh Jackson beside him

I think every coach knows with Benji that he is too connected to the media and he likes to talk. Not a normal situation for a player who is in a squad as a backup demanding so much media focus. His skills/price are probably attractive to most clubs it's just all the other stuff you have to take on board with it.

Not sure why everyone is complaining. He has been told there is a role at the tigers for him when he retires. He was told he isn’t a chance at playing NRL for us this year, he is still looking to see if a Sydney club ends up needing him. It’s up to him if he wants to put in the training and fitness to stay a possibility. Either way when he finishes up and is ready a role will be waiting. I swear some people on here will be filthy if he plays OzTag in the Tuesday night comp..

Not a single club wants him. Yet we were wrong in moving forward without him. Go figure. And this goof ball that kicked off the thread again wants to pay him to basically do nothing. Problem is he's an agitator. Constantly stirring up crap in the media and behind the scenes.

Benji should bow out gracefully he's by know exhausted all his options he would have a lot to offer as a halves coach and also as an analyst on FOX

Would he really have a lot to offer as a halves coach? Would you want your playmakers learning from him?
As an off the cuff player he was amazing, but went for the big play more often than he should've and got us burnt....

Looks like Benji has signed with Souths for a year.
Just seen it on 7NEWS.

Good on him I suppose. I can't see how it will benefit souffs at all though

Marshall reunites with master coach for 2021 after signing a new NRL deal. Wests Tigers legend Benji Marshall is set to play his 19th NRL season at the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

7NEWS’ Michelle Bishop has revealed the skillful playmaker has signed at South Sydney on a one-year deal for 2021, after he was shown the door by Tigers coach Michael Maguire in late 2020.

The 324-game star will be reunited with Wayne Bennett at Souths, the master coach he played under during his short stint at the Broncos.

The 35-year-old is in the twilight of his career but will provide valuable experience / injury cover to established halves Adam Reynolds and Cody Walker at Redfern.

Good luck to the guy but this has to be the end of any discussion around ambassador / front office roles for Benji and the Wests Tigers. He has made his decision and Wests will hopefully move on.

He could easily come back in that role. He will always be remembered as a Wests Tigers player.

Robbie is back at the club and he went to Souths.

I wish him the best every time he plays apart from against us.
