What are people's favourite Benji moment?

I can't pinpoint one but the short side 1st man plays to Gareth Ellis were my favourite. Especially the one in the Semi against Canberra. I'd have Benji as the most deceiving player that I've seen, whether it's with the stepping or the passing. He would nail a 3 on 2 or a 4 on 3 more often than not.

Loved it when he punched Mitchell Pearce in the face.

Cost us the game

Heigno not being able to bend over and pick the ball up is what cost us that game.

Oh my bad do the 4 points for the try being disallowed and possible 2 points for a conversion near the posts did cost us.

We lead 16-0 after that. Probably the biggest choke in our history

A great career and a rare talent. At his best one of the most exciting players to have ever played the game. Have a very happy and healthy retirement Benji. They'll still be playing re-runs of that flick pass to Patty Richards in 05 long after all of us have joined the dearly departed.

Emotional scenes.

Benji literally changed the game, and inspired many to play with the flare he introduced.

Plenty of magic moments I'll long remember.

Congratulations on a great career Benji, and wish you well for life after footy.

No love for Broncos in this one.

All the best to the bloke in retirement - he gave the Wests Tigers a lot, and he gave the game a lot.

Shock signing for '23?

We'll take him.

The man still has the best highlights reel in the game.
He did a lot for this club and the game in general.
Had a long and interesting career punctuated by a premiership, captaining his country and a golden boot award.
Well done Benj, enjoy whatever comes next.

No doubt the most influential player to ever wear our jersey. Our club was a laughing stock when he debuted (much like now) and he gave us instant credibility. Can’t help but feel he underachieved most of his career though. By the time he left us in 2013, he wasn’t the same player he was in 05. He’s spent the last 8 years at best an above average first grader. 05-11 though, there weren’t many better. It’s just a shame he regressed so much. He let his ego get the better of him a lot which didn’t help.

Please excuse the gushing but I've just gotta....

No player gave us those breathless moments like Benji.
No one ever got you out of your seat like Benji did.
No player was ever more destructive in broken play.

I love the way he played. Eyes-up, off-the-cuff was a big part of his game. Sure, because of that he was rocks or diamonds for spells of his career. I was ok with that, because man when he was diamonds he sparkled.

Don't forget the golden boot, when he had quite a period where he was more consistent and arguably the best player around.

Despite how bad the Tigers might have been going; we had Benji - the human highlight reel - and the reason to be the envy of every other fanbase.
Benji's highlights reel for any one of the many seasons with us was longer than anyone else's career highlights. He was just something else. A one-off. The most electrifying player most of us will ever see.

The guy could do the unthinkable. Pull a rabbit out of nowhere.
He was just magic.

Thank you Benji for making us smile in disbelief. For giving us amazing memories. For our sole premiership.

Best of luck in your future.
You are Wests Tigers greatest.
You will always be royalty here.
