@JD-Tiger if Madge does get sacked I do expect Ben Gardiner takes over he was given the assistant job because of his connection with the young guys in the team hopefully that’ll rub off onto the experienced ones too

Lets see.

It's a little risky as really we need a coach that would upgrade Madge. I don't see Ben Gardiner as that person.
Particularly as we clearly are a bottom 4 team at the moment, it's a hell of an ask for a coach coming in with no experience.

That said, might work. I notice that Penrith have done what we have done in the past and backed their Juniors. The bond is so strong that you had Nathan Cleary defend Tyrone May... What this shows is that players won't care as much about the cap when they are playing with mates. Good players have even come back to play there.

We need to stop changing the person and start addressing the problem.

We need that club culture. Getting Benji Marshall around the club is critical too that and I am glad he is here and not at souths.

Who would we be able to attract that is an upgrade on Madge?

Flanagan imo

I'd rather give the job to Joey Leilua.

Good football brain, strong communicator and always takes personal responsibility - perfect coach

thought him and Tim was unworkable, according 2 the scribes,it doesnt really figure

Yeah it is interesting. I always had the impression that Sheens failed the first time because he let it be too much of a boys club, and basically Benji and Robbie both got heads too big. And Sheens didn't hold a tight enough crew and the inmates starting running the asylum.

So why now is the inmates and the warden getting back together? Are they all now going to be wardens?

I think there was a boys club at WT back then but many of that group had got to within a bees of a GF, so you’d generally let the group have some control over the way things are done. This current group has achieved zilch and should be treated as such. Hopefully Sheens and Madge and co can invoke some desire and get them to play as a group as they looked divided in 21.

we r not a club divided unless you listen 2 Murdoch, media have faith, they r ??still financially invested in teams

Who cares if there was a boys club?
The whole NRL is a boys club….at least those guys won games of football.

If you needed any proof that this club is pack filled of absolute halfwits .....this decision proves it .....

How much proof do we need that going back to the 2005 well is a failure .....and has never worked

No one involved in 2005 is ever allowed to work for the club? I don't get your logic.

Fitzhenry would be about the only bloke who hasn't worked the for the club since the 2005 GF ......

How this prick has been allowed to bag us from pillar to post as many times as he has over the years ...should have given the job to Paul Kent or Buzz ......

But there is no proof... Yet.
Maybe it won't work,. Maybe it will

You would be hard pressed to find a club that does not have ex players working in various roles. Fans identify with them and so do players. If you are going to employ any you might as well have the best ones.

Making finals and winning a premiership. Yep who the hell would want to go back to those days.

Maybe just maybe our perception of how bad things were back then was a little off. Maybe the negativity people still have towards the Farah, Sheens and Benji days comes down to an unwillingness to change your opinions over the course of time. Surely the last 5 to 10 seasons would make people realise that it wasnt all that bad back then.

Was a playing coach out in the Riverina for a few years, Then moved up to the Hunter and was coaching up there, That was a while ago... Don't know what he does now.

Majority of players now in the NRL grew up watching the peak Benji era, having him as a carrot to dangle to kids who looked up to him is a great way for players to connect with the club.

I was sour how he acted this last year, but this is very good move to bring him in this role and we're getting him at the right time before the next generation who never really watched him play start coming through.
