I know we haven't had much good news the last couple of years but I see some slight changes which give me hope. Sheens back to give us direction off the field, Benji now on board and returning to his home, flicking our old defence coach and replacing with new blood and a group of young fella's who have the potential to build into a good side. You never know and by the way I still believe in Santa. !!!!!!

Benji is gonna have no influence on the field. He’ll be in corporate boxes sipping champagne. A pure PR move by the club. His role has no significance

Whether his role is on or off the field is irrelevant …. this move has a lot of upside and is significant for the look of the Club.

If you needed any proof that this club is pack filled of absolute halfwits .....this decision proves it .....

How much proof do we need that going back to the 2005 well is a failure .....and has never worked

No one involved in 2005 is ever allowed to work for the club? I don't get your logic.

Fitzhenry would be about the only bloke who hasn't worked the for the club since the 2005 GF ......

How this prick has been allowed to bag us from pillar to post as many times as he has over the years ...should have given the job to Paul Kent or Buzz ......

Lol, benji allowed to have an opinion

What fitz doing now?

Was a playing coach out in the Riverina for a few years, Then moved up to the Hunter and was coaching up there, That was a while ago... Don't know what he does now.

What a legend

In other words, PR.

Benji is a club legend and will have a massive impact on player's opinions on joining us. He would also be handy to have in terms of guiding halves at the club.

Didn’t have an impact while he was here as a player.

Negative nellies are out in force today lol.
Benji is a legend of this club and his appointment is only positive.

To those who are happy with this, I agree it's a no-brainer.
To those who aren't happy... I say keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

@JD-Tiger if Madge does get sacked I do expect Ben Gardiner takes over he was given the assistant job because of his connection with the young guys in the team hopefully that’ll rub off onto the experienced ones too

Lets see.

It's a little risky as really we need a coach that would upgrade Madge. I don't see Ben Gardiner as that person.
Particularly as we clearly are a bottom 4 team at the moment, it's a hell of an ask for a coach coming in with no experience.

That said, might work. I notice that Penrith have done what we have done in the past and backed their Juniors. The bond is so strong that you had Nathan Cleary defend Tyrone May... What this shows is that players won't care as much about the cap when they are playing with mates. Good players have even come back to play there.

We need to stop changing the person and start addressing the problem.

We need that club culture. Getting Benji Marshall around the club is critical too that and I am glad he is here and not at souths.

Who would we be able to attract that is an upgrade on Madge?

Flanagan imo

Downvote!

Making finals and winning a premiership. Yep who the hell would want to go back to those days.

Maybe just maybe our perception of how bad things were back then was a little off. Maybe the negativity people still have towards the Farah, Sheens and Benji days comes down to an unwillingness to change your opinions over the course of time. Surely the last 5 to 10 seasons would make people realise that it wasnt all that bad back then.

We were a very attractive club back then. I hasn't even felt like the same club/team since those days. Something has been missing.

I completely disagree. It is the exact opposite of a good look for the club. The "look", to me, is that the plan for the future is to forget about the evolution of the game, ignore the opportunity for innovation and generational change, and reinstate Sheens, McDonnell and Marshall to bolster their pensions; because it's "nice" and "deserved".

Chairman Mouth, Pascoe and Board have no vision, at all. This cannot be considered a serious, professional NRL club with that lot ruling the roost.

I think we need Benji far more than he needs us atm. I would suggest that most ex players that have achieved success at their clubs are invited back to promote the club and the game to sponsers, families/prospective players, and Benji is arguably one the most recognized players in recent times. How can he not be a good addition?

If that's all he does, the "fairy floss stuff" then that's fine. But I would like to know how much he is being paid and what are his KPIs?

Seriously

This bloke took a significant pay cut to keep Chris Lawrence with the club.
He is not about money, I believe he really wants to help the club in anyway he can.

Btw would you like to tell us how much you are paid and your KPI's. It has nothing to do with you or any body else except him and the club.

Cant answer that. I just think it's important to have someone advocating for your club in the media and I expect Benji to remain active in that arena.
