Know lot's of people living in cambo for a while who are simply NOT tigers supporters. You'd struggle to find that in Balmain. I've never lived in cambo so I'm not sure what the issue is or how to solve it but the club needs to make an obvious effort to rectify it.
That signing before a cambeltown game in macarthur square was a nice start, but nothing since then.
the difference is that the Balmain area has had a team to support for over 100 years - there is a culture that if you are born or live in the area you are a tiger supporter. Campbelltown is different - no team to support until a struggling magpie outfit moved there - there was no previous culture - the magpies were building that culture until times changed - WT have failed to build on that culture and have alienated a lot of people in the area - the other problem is that a lot of people move to the area from other parts of the city and continue to follow the side they previously followed - i would think that would be true of people form Balmain moving to the northern beaches - they wouldn't start following Manly ( at least i hope they wouldn't ) - WT need to recognise and promote the area as theirs and start building a long term presence and culture.
To add to this, people are voting with their feet. I live in Campbelltown and we have struggled to crack more than 10K each home game. I get the feeling that a lot of people have given up on the game in our area. In 2014, we need to play the big clubs out there instead of at Leichhardt. Let's play the Storm or the Bulldogs again. The Dogs have a big supporter base in Macarthur and we got a crowd of 19K last time we played them there.
