Benji Marshall - Official..

I love the fact he is coming back but some of the calls stating he should be in our 17 is concerning. Will be great for team morale and nurturing the halves but if he is playing first grade, we aren't making the 8 in my opinion.

I'm excited because Marshall is a fine footballer and a very decent man. His nurturing of Brooks and Lolohea will be the making of them. I see a lot of Marshall in Lolohea.

Very happy with this signing! Benji and gamble as our halves depth! How can that possibly be a bad thing considering it's pretty much just JLJ at the moment?

Everyone would have been against it in the past as it would have been a starting berth, but as backup, he's a great purchase. Solid value for money and much needed spirit to add to the team.

We also lost all our star marketing power with Ted and woods leaving. Probably a lot of our team identity too. This is such a great low value spend to keep the sponsors and kids excited.

Im happy that he is here only for depth. I dont really want to see him starting. I've never been a big fan. Too hit or miss for me.

"He will be given every opportunity to compete for a starting position"

Some obviously want to set up the Wests Tigers retirement home for wayward boys and girls.

Do not believe anyone is even thinking of, let alone mentioning Farah and Heighington.
Benji is one thing, they are totally different.

Imo Benji could make a good centre (Brooks best game was when Benji was in the centre), move Masters to the second row and with Rowdy or Taylor next to Benji to help with defence - problem solved.

As long as we did not pay him too much, is a good media story. Now to chase Heigno & bring bustling Bryce Gibbs out of retirement.

Are we also chasing Ayshford for a farewell appearance?

"I'm coming home. I never wanted to leave the place, and I've tried several times to get back and now I've got my chance."

From Club Website: "Wests Tigers Welcome Home Benji Marshall"
Wests Tigers have today announced the signing of Benji Marshall for the 2018 season.

The new one-year agreement will see Marshall return to the club where he made his NRL debut in 2003.

The 32-year-old Wests Tigers Premiership winner and Life Member has played 201 games for the club and returns for the first time since 2013.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary welcomed Marshall back to the club.

“Benji has been one of the premier players in the NRL since his debut season and it’s great to be able to welcome him back to Wests Tigers,” said Cleary. “He brings more than 250 games of NRL experience back to this club which will be invaluable for our young side.

“I look forward to working with Benji over the coming year, he has a lot to offer this club and I know he’s keen to return and make a positive impact on Wests Tigers,” he said.

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said that the Life Member brings a wealth of experience to the club.

"The whole club is really excited to be welcoming a legend like Benji back,” said Pascoe. “Benji has as a long history with this club, with the Members, with the fans and with the stakeholders and bringing back a Life Member to help continue to transform this footy club is a great result for everyone.

“Benji will add experience and leadership to our young group of players coming through, not only on the field, but also off the field,” he said. “Benji will be given every opportunity to compete for a starting position and put pressure on those ahead of him and he will also be expected to, and is looking forward to, be a mentor for the younger players coming through.

“What excites me the most is that Benji can see and believes in the direction the club is heading and wants to be a part of that, he sees that the future of Wests Tigers is extremely bright."

Marshall has played 264 NRL games for Wests Tigers, the St George Illawarra Dragons and the Brisbane Broncos and won the Golden Boot award in 2010\. He has represented New Zealand on 25 occasions and was named a Wests Tigers Life Member in 2013.

This signing has made my day and by far my favourite for next season.

We finally have competition for spots.

Benji, Brooks, Reynolds and Gamble all competing for 2 positions.

Man im excited.

Benji will be an asset both on and off the field and his signing comes at a time when good news stories both for our club and the NRL have been pretty thin on the ground! He's been going well up north and won't be a passenger. Also good that when he does play his last game it's likely to be in our club colours-which is as it should be!

This opens the door for a lot of possibilities

1\. Lolo
3\. Marshall
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks

14\. Lolo
