Benji needs an older head

When we had Cleary were there any thrashings? Also on the other side of the ledger did we have any hope?
Cleary was unique, he had carte Blanche with roster development. The next two coaches had decisions turned into robust discussions, then there’s Benji, pretty much back to carte blanche, but they did throw a few grenades at him in his early days. Thats the thinking, hire the inexperienced and maintain your grip on power.

Tiger town split: Benji Marshall and Robbie Farah part ways

The Wests Tigers and Robbie Farah have agreed to part ways at the end of the season as the NRL cellar-dwellers search for more experience in the coaching ranks to assist Benji Marshall.

Farah, who is off contract at the end of this season, met with Marshall on Wednesday to discuss his future at the club and whether he would continue as Marshall’s assistant in 2025.

Marshall – one of Farah’s closest friends, having spent more than two decades together at the joint venture club – informed him he had decided someone with more experience was needed to assist with the club’s rebuild.

Farah, who has a number of outside business interests, has been considering his future for the past month and was unsure if he wanted to remain part of the coaching staff after two tumultuous seasons.

Marshall and Farah came to the conclusion that it was in everyone’s best interest for the arrangement to end after this season. The parting was ratified at a board meeting on Monday night.

Sources with knowledge of the situation talking on the condition of anonymity in order to speak freely told this masthead that Farah was relieved with the decision and holds no animosity towards Marshall or the club.

Farah declined to comment, while Marshall did not respond to this masthead’s attempt to contact him.

Farah, who runs the team’s attack alongside Marshall, will finish up at the end of the season. Fellow assistant coach John Morris, who runs defence, is expected to remain on the football staff.

Farah was parachuted into the club’s assistant coaching role as part of the Tim Sheens regime two years ago despite harbouring an ambition to work in the football administration side of the business.

It’s unclear whether he will remain at the club in a different role from next season.

I actually think it’s great for once the reporting wasn’t bagging us for a decision. The comment re Farah and Benji was actually positive for once from the media which is good.

Buzz article the other day was positive somewhat to Benji as well.

Rare to see for us fans.
Well I think all the real RL people can see the Tigers dilemma,so good for some mature discussion/decisions, FOR THE GOOD OF THE CLUB, moving forward !

This is the thing.... if Benji coached Roosters he would not be a wooden spooner. And if the Roosters coach came to help Benji whatever his name is we would still be wooden spooners

I feel like you bring Farah back when your team is really competitive and you’re looking for that bit of passion to get you up for a big game. His intensity is probably not very useful with a young squad who are learning on the job.
He’ll probably join Madge in NSW next year.

I'm expecting Ryan Carr to be right in the mix for the Asst Coach position:

1 - Only contracted at Dragons until end of this season. Seems to be below Dean Young in coaching ranks there?
2 - Was appointed U20 coach at Rabbitohs during Richo's tenure.
3 - Was an assistant to John Morris at Sharks when Morris was U20 coach there.
Carr, who played lower grades at the Tigers, is close to Morris after assisting Morris when he was Cronulla’s under-20s coach - Daily Telegraph, 2023.
4 - Been through success as an assistant coach helping Eels to GF in '22.
5 - A former Balmain Tigers player lol

I wonder who Benji goes with.. He may go with someone who harbours no HC role to prevent any white-anting.

Moving Farah on was obvious but to me, we need a new HC and put Benji in as assistant and HC of Jersey Flegg or something so that he can operate first in a non stressful environment.
