And was paid $60k for the footage apparently

NOt bad for two minutes of camera work.

Media will make a fortune out of it!

Still think its weak but man a 60k pricetag is tempting!

They paid overs.

Bloke is a dope and the footage was unflattering but I found that faux Eastern Suburbs accent on the woman to be just as offensive as Pearce's shenanigans. "Get Ahhhht. Ahhhht. Ahhhhf limits!"

''This isn't Redfern''

The racial overtones should seal the deal really in terms of the whole scene being reprehensible…

light fine if he's only going to miss a few matches

Agreed. He should not be allowed to feature in finals matches as well. That would really hurt them. As it stands, teams often have shaky starts but finish with wind in their sails.

I take it as a given his rep career is finished?

At least the DT are concerned for the dogs humility

The Roosters & NRL are gona cop it from social commentators if they attempt to treat this as a singular incident. I think once the 'Oh Mitchell' phase slows down, today & tomorrow we will see this broken down into individual actions and that will be messy for he NRL. If Dave Smith was still here, his contract would be torn up immediately. Lucky for him John Grant is not so serious.

One radio host has already made comment that this is 3-4 incidents in the space of 5 minutes, and a slap on the wrists isn't gona cut it. They stated the unwanted advance on the female is harassment, disrespectful and a common occurrence with footballers whose governing body has a policy on such matters; the simulated sex act as vial and disgusting; and then he urinated on himself due to his drunken state, going on to question what happened before and after this 5 minutes on video.

Uncle Nick must be working overtime to sweep this under the carpet.

The gf had the radio on 2day fm on the way to work and their "expert" gave his opinion on what will happen. Clearly he's been reading the telly. Which is fine, but don't act like the prediction is yours.

Opinion: Why Mitchell Pearce should sack himself
January 28, 20166:24am

Debbie Schipp news.com.au

OPINION.

THE apologists were at it even before the footage went to air. Mitchell Pearce was at a private party. The story had been overblown by the media.

He hadn’t hurt anyone; it was tasteless, but harmless; it was a joke, lots of people have done it before; wait for the full story.

The NRL Integrity Unit was “aware of the matter” and “had asked the Roosters to investigate”. The Roosters were doing that. “Mitchell Pearce’s career in doubt”; “Pearce’s playing future in limbo”. It went on and on.

I. Call. Bullshit.

We shouldn’t be debating if what Mitchell Pearce got up to on Australia Day is a sackable offence. Pearce’s career shouldn’t be in doubt. It shouldn’t be in limbo. Mitchell Pearce’s career should be over.

If the bloke has a shred of decency (let’s face it, there’s no dignity left) he won’t wait for the axe to fall. He’ll sack himself.

Contractually of course, he can’t. But if the Roosters did anything but agree if he manned up and said he’d exit, they’d have a publicity nightmare on their hands. And deservedly so.

Nobody should be “awaiting investigation”, nobody should be awaiting reports, nobody should be weighing it up against similar atrocities, of which there are sadly way too many, on a sliding scale of who was most offensive, out of line, most depraved, had the most form.

The Roosters should have acted on this bloke long ago. Other players with a lesser list of indiscretions have gone. Instead they made Pearce co-captain.

Like a lot of people on Australia Day, Mitchell Pearce went out with mates to celebrate. Like a lot of people, he appeared to have a few drinks. Like a lot of people, he appeared to celebrate for way too long and ended up at a party at someone’s house.

Unlike a lot of people, Pearce — a repeat offender on the grog (among his other punishments have been losing his State of Origin jersey) — crossed not one, but several lines. Again.

He simulated sex on a dog. He attempted to kiss a woman who clearly didn’t want to be kissed.

He apparently urinated on himself, and a couch. He spoke disgracefully to those who were protesting. It’s more than a trifecta of disgrace. It’s more than a big night on the grog from a bloke who has “issues with alcohol in the past”.

It’s certainly not a “tragedy”. Let’s call it what it is. It’s disgusting. We know how this plays out. Defenders of Pearce and the NRL will trot out any excuse under the sun — Pearce is troubled, they have mates who have done worse; he needs to be kept in the game because that’s the best way for him to tackle his demons.

They’ll shift blame — his mates let him down by letting the video be shot; the women in the apartment clearly had agenda — what did they expect spending time with a bunch of drunk blokes? They’ll turn on commentators like me — a woman, who’s never played the game, ask haven’t I ever done anything I regret on the grog? They’ll say we don’t understand the pressures, the sport, these blokes aren’t prepared for anything outside football. They are treated like gods, they have too much time on their hands. But again, because this happens every year and every time, the end result is shamefaced apology: “I’ve let myself down, my family down, my teammates down, the club down.”

Mitchell Pearce is a man blessed with enough talent and dedication to play a game that apparently rewards him handsomely at elite level. He and his teammates had permission to let their hair down on Australia Day, but instead of letting his hair down and pulling his head in, Pearce went on a bender less than three weeks out from the season kicking off at the Auckland Nines.

Enough have gone before him that if he hasn’t figured out yet that the pay cheque brings with it certain responsibilities — like not simulating lewd acts with dogs, not forcing drunken slobber on women, and not pissing on random couches — he’s clearly not bright enough to be keeping up his end of the deal.

And he should know — he’s been in the game for seven years. He’s not a kid. He’s a team captain — and sadly, he’s had enough indiscretions that he knows the ropes. What he should know, at the age of 26, is he’s a grown man, and he’s out of chances. He doesn’t need new friends. He doesn’t need excuses. And he damn sure doesn’t need to be playing in the NRL.

What he does need is a reality check. No matter who he is, and what he does, this behaviour is unacceptable. Countless blokes, both in and out of the NRL know that. They don’t need it spelled out to them in detail, they just know what’s decent and what isn’t.

We’re sick of the sordid acts, the grubby excuses, and the umpteen rounds of counselling and chances. Nobody has called bullshit on Mitchell Pearce, and the countless offenders before him until it’s too late.

This time, Pearce needs to blow the whistle on himself.

I knew it wasn't a good idea to disclose the station. As a staunch metal man I am quite embarrassed.

If someone leaked this to your Metal Mates that you listen to 2day fm.. You would cop it for more than 6 months from them. You would probably have to move to the UK, like Carney and Others.

Maybe its the psychologist coming out in me but you wonder what would make someone who was raised by one of the biggest fitness freaks, who would help little old ladies cross the road, turn into an absolute dreg on the drink.

I would say it would have a lot to do with the 'sweet little Mitch can't do anything wrong' attitude that Rooster Pearce has heard all his life.
Feel sorry for Wayne- no prouder champion has ever graced the RL field IMO, but Mitchell seems like he never got the kick up the clacker that it is plain obvious he never received.

I'm sure there's a bit of all that in there but, like elephants, some people are just jerks (to paraphrase the Simpsons)

Agreed, it's like saying Lodge's parents should have done something different to stop him having his troubles.

Some people just have troubles.

All I will say on this matter, the media will say plenty in the coming weeks,is that Pearce is an adult,at 26 he knows what's right and what's wrong, not just as a human being, but as an ambassador to NRL,he is idolised by so many children..his club, his friends and his family have let him down to a degree that they know he has alcohol problems and there is plenty of help within our communities for that,if they haven't sought help for him, then they shouldn't be surprised or disgusted at his behaviour….once again our great game takes another hit...

I met Jr Jr in The Cross, on a night on the tiles, many moons ago… he would have been about 18 pr 19\. I was well dosed but he was completely hammered, totally glazed look in his eyes. That being said, he didn't do or say anything inappropriate, he was happy and friendly enough for that short time.

What he did this time, I don't think it's that big a deal. People are outraged basically because he got caught, because these incidents are happening all the time all across the country. I think it's hypocritical in this age of the smart phone to pulverise individuals just because they are famous, when most of these drunken incidents aren't even against the law. The internet is full of this stuff from less famous people.

So by all means be outraged if you are, but direct your energy towards the problem of alcohol abuse in young people, rather than try and fix everything by crucifying Pearce for being loose on the booze. I feel the penalty they are discussing is about right, not just for abusing the dog and trying to abuse the young lady, but for the sheer stupidity of his actions.

Because that is what this is half about - about the clear stupidity, verging on personal troubles, of Mitchell Pearce. Contrast this with Matt Lodge - he's already had his contract torn up, but Lodge was already on domestic violence charges before his US rampage. Nobody is taking the moral high-ground against Lodge, because that kid is clearly messed up, needs mental health support. Mitchell Pearce, well maybe he needs psychological help too, but at this stage it just looks like normal stupidity.

You should get in trouble for stupidity because you are a representative of your sport and your club, they pay your wages, and your actions hurt the money-making potential of these institutions. You should be financially penalised for bringing on the media storm. You should be heavily penalised for repeatedly causing trouble in a business that is damaged by such trouble.

But I want to ensure there is appropriate perspective, including running off a few names of players who are still playing - Lui, SKD, Inglis, Greg Bird. You tell me Pearce has done anything even close to physically abusing his partner - he's been a pest on at least two occasions, but so far as I am aware he never struck a woman.

Pearce is about halfway along the Todd Carney path, of getting the sack for being a repeated idiot. If Politis really does alter his contract, then the Roosters are positioning themselves to part ways. Don't doubt for a minute though that if Roosters ever do sack Pearce, another club will be ready to counsel him then sign him right up.

On Todd Carney, that guy has the longest rap sheet of any footballer I ever heard of. Not as serious as some like John Elias or Craig Field, but consistently and endlessly stupid. That will ultimately get you fired as well. Todd Carney had a restraining order taken out against him by the town of Goulburn, don't think Jr Jr is anywhere like that yet. And I can tell you for a fact that Carney's list of transgressions was far longer than the media ever knew about.
