Very few players are worth $600k a year IMO…thurston, Cam Smith, Inglis and a handful of others being the rare exception. Even when you look at Farah on his $900k, by the time he plays SOO and misses games for us and then comes back broken down.....we are lucky to get a good half a season out of him. Not throwing stones at Robbie...just pointing out facts.
With the current salary cap and needing a large squad to cater for injuries over a long season a young inexperienced team like the Wests Tigers needs a few old heads to bring the younger players through.
We don't need the $500k a year Blairs.....but the solid 1st graders who have 150 games under their belt that are solid performers on $250 -$300k a year.....eg Kade Snowdon, Luke Douglas, Elijah Taylor, etc etc....just as an example not saying that these are the exact guys I'd be aiming for.
Willie is worth far less but on $150k....he is a real stand up sort of bloke....if someone is putting it over one of our blokes you know Willie would be in the mix standing up for his team mates. That in my opinion is worth something to a young side like ours.
