Anasta first 25 minutes and then bring Austin off the bench.

ffs… no.

either austin or moltzen should be in the 6... this off the bench stuff for halves gives us no stability and i cant rememebr any teams who have done this successfully... pearce and maloney. dce and foran.. reynolds and sutton.. cronk and widdop.. reynolds and hodkinson...

no one else does it, and for good reason.

The Rabbitohs did it with Keary, actually.
Queensland did it with DCE
The Bulldogs used to do it with Thurston.

It's not that alien a concept in reality

_Posted using RoarFEED 2013_

yeah, majority of time it wont work though.. it didnt really turn out well for souths…and queensland and DCE are a different kettle of fish to what we have at the tigers..

we dont need to waste an interchange in the halves and im old fashioned in thinking that the 6 and 7 should be the same for 80 minutes.

I think we should just all accept that the 6 is definitely up for grabs and whoever works hardest in the off season in the trials will get the nod

The most important thing will still be this , if they are playing behind an ineffective forward pack it won't matter whether we have Lewis ,Daley ,Fittler , Kenny at 6

We will get belted and they will look bad

Moltzen will need to be behind a good forward pack , Anasta will add experience but little else , Austin still has a lot to prove and we won't know if Moses is ready

6 is a crucial position , and the fact we don't have a proven 6 is one of the main reasons we will really struggle to get close to the Top 8

The bottom line can anyone see the club dropping Anasta????Just cant see it happening regardless of the other contenders. It was obvious to everyone he cant play in the backrow anymore, so that only leaves the no 6\. He may share the role with a player off the bench and during the course of a season their will be injuries so the other players will get their chance, but for what ever reason he will be like other players and never get to meet the reserve grade coach. Really Potter has more chance of being dumped than Anasta, yes it is madness, but these things happen in football clubs especially ours.

I saw a tweet from Mayer saying something along the lines of, 6\. Austin 7\. Brooks has a nice ring to it doesn't it. But i couldn't find it when i looked for it again an hour later so i could save it and put it in this very thread. I think he deleted it. It was While Winsor were playing Newcastle and Austin bagged 2 tries and assisted in 2-3 other tries.

Dont be surprised of Brooks isn't quite ready for week in week out NRL and Austin actually plays 7.

Blake isnt as big as i first thought, certainly not big enough for the bcakrow. And the way he played last week showed me someone who could handle 7 with ease.

Its not how i would start the year, but i can definately see it turning out this way.

I used to think the same with Utai but it happened

I am pretty sure he play's Primarily in the Second row and at 5/8.

Yeh his experience is mainly at 6 and the backrow.

What im saying is that he appears to have a game capable of playing 7 and with our lack of depth in the area, i can see him playing there in 2014 if Brooks doesnt cut it yet.

Smeg,Anasta's profile is miles ahead of Utai. I hope you are right and with Potter's position being very shaky,he may actually pick the best 17 players for self survival. In saying that barring Ohara, what ever high profile player has ended up in reserve grade at the tigers. Cant think of to many. Look I dont want to put the boot into Anasta, he may actually win the gig on merit but I dont want to see him a auto selection either

Your right but that wasn't because of a form slump that was because he was injured all year and came back through nsw cup to regain some fitness and then potter thought why swap Tuqiri for Simona or Nofo if they are doing great jobs.

Aaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!! here we go again! Back to the Sheens era, where we play players out-of-position to fill a position. If a half is injured or out-of-form, PLAY A HALF IN THE POSITION, please.

Ah yes. Out of position, guess that's why he's playing at five eight in the NSW Cup Grand final tomorrow.

I'm just saying if brooks is injured we don't have any other option but ansata

_Posted using RoarFEED 2013_

Which is why we bought Austin. So we have a bit of competition there and can pick the better one because I don't know who is in fact better. We clearly need halves, he was the best they could find.

Moltzen
Anasta
Brooks
Paea
Madden

Is about all we have without Austin and two aren't 1st grade material. 3 halves for a season, given what we just went through, is really not enough.
