Blake Ferguson

I think our depth is ok apart from our halves. If Fergo could play 5/8, as much as a loose canon that he is, I'd snap him up in a second.

I think he is an outstanding talent. It is all about value.

Give him a 3 year deal - heavily back loaded. Put some strict rules round his off field behaviour and see how he goes. If stuffs up in the first year or two, the damage can be nullified. If he has been good for three years, then perhaps he has shown he has turned it around.

Whilst not sure if he is worth the gamble, definitely no back ended deals as they often bite back, long and hard. A reasonable incentive based contract would be okay I suppose, putting his potential value firmly in his own hands.

Lawrence and Simona will be the centres I understand people think Lawrence is done but I assure you he is far from it.

I for one am keen on this signing though. It seems these days the only way marquee players come onto the market is after off field discretions get him released by other clubs. They go elsewhere and carve up. Can we get one of these finally?

Where do you play him ?

Great player but who do we get rid of. I still am not sure of the Richards signing because Koro seems to miss out and he is lighting quick.

Koro is still at least a year away from commanding a top grade wing spot imo…maybe more.

Great with ball in hand - mostly - but all over the shop in other facets

Richards isn't a part of the equation , he is the No 1 goalkicker

It will come down to Nofoaluma or Koroibete imo and Nofoaluma is far ahead of Koroibete in just about every facet of their games bar speed

To be a top four outfit it all starts with the forwards and our pack is on the improve, but they are a long way away from sending terror waves through the comp. I would save the money and cap space for one or two top shelve forwards if and when they come onto the market. Ferguson would add plenty of strike power but would also put a big hole in our cap and reduce our ability to be active in the silly season next year.I still say the sharks will get him as they may have a few holes in their roster in a few weeks

Would like to see Koro developed as a centre.

Has the speed, size and power for it just need to work on nuances

Dunno Smeg , I think you'd have less to do to make Nofoaluma into a NRL centre than Koroibete

Actually that's a bit from left field . Haven't really considered that :bulb:

he has super star talent, but is a massive loose canon. …my gut always says no to this type. However often they work out great.

Like John Hopoate did for the Tigers

Its a risk you need to be willing to make , for our situation if he doesn't work the downside will be minimal

The upside of having a talented centre playing the football he is capable of could urn us into Top 8 contenders

But we need to do this and find a way to keep Nofoaluma ,Simona Koroibete if we decide to go down this track

Not an easy balancing act is it

I see the risk is having Ferguson become a bad influence on the tigers generation next…

For every revival stoy like Carney of 2010 there is a couple John Hopoate or Scott Wilson.

Ferguson playing with his head screwed on is a star, but at what cost....as I said my gut always says no, but he could work out great for someone

Nofa would be my first choice but when talking with friends his height and size were bought up. Also that the modern centre is fast developing into that agile power backrower mould

Unfortunately we don't seem to have any of those in the ranks

The only bloke who even remotely seems to fit that build is Davis and no one seems keen on that idea or it would of been experimented with already at top level

I guess Rowdy does , but he needs to find speed fairy first

Not sure if he had the passing game.

Nofo can cover anywhere in the backline. Has played in all position 1-5 in the past.

Koro is more of a put him in space and he'll score you lots of tries player. Naiyaravoro could be the roughie. Not as fast as Koro but much bigger than anyone else in our entire squad. Probably about as quick as Nofo too.

Ferguson as good as he is, I might pass on,due to his attitude. Isn't he supposed to be ineligible for 2014 in any case as the NRL won't register him?

I'll pass on this one to be honest, we already have plenty of talented backs including Tedesco, Nofoaluama, Koroibete, Naiyavaro, Hoeter, Seve, Lawrence, Simona, McGrath, Rowe, Richards & Lulia.

I don't want to lose any of the players above and if we sign Ferguson we will be forced to lose at least two. Stay away from Ferguson and make a play for some decent forwards who are not on big money.

He doesnt seem too bright.

Immature

Think centre might be too much for him

Was that Koro ,Nofoa or Dugans boy toy your were referring to sorry Ink

koro

Yep rather Koroibete doing the hard yards out of our red zone , he is probably more likely to get a quick play the ball which will set us up early in our sets

Great player but total fruit loop. Another Mundine puppet. Potentially a game breaker but potentialy a team wrecker? :crazy

ha ha… they certainly played that out literally in that interview where only mundine spoke!!

i agree with the view that the club should just let this one go. i like that the club seems to have implemented the good old "no dh's" policy, and ferguson does seem to need to do some growing up.

agree also with the koro remarks: he is a great speed winger and certainly at this stage i dont think he should be moved from the wing. i seriously doubt he can go up a notch in gameplay to move to centre too.

anyway, i think the backline is shaping up very nicely without him.
