Braith Anasta keen to lift team

Braith Anasta is confident he will be right to return from injury for Wests Tigers this Friday night in a crucial match against the North Queensland Cowboys at Leichhardt Oval.

Anasta has not played since suffering a groin injury in the heart breaking loss to St George-Illawarra Dragons at the Sydney Cricket Ground in round six.
If passed fit to play, Anasta is determined to help end the team’s run of seven consecutive losses.

“I’ve trained as hard as I can for the past few weeks, so hopefully I can play this Friday,’’ Anasta said today.

“You feel a bit helpless on the sideline so if I can get out there and help in any way I can, I love to.

“It has been tough (on the sidelines). Being one of the leaders, you try and work out how to get ourselves out of this at the moment and try to get a win.

“I think our form is a mental thing. From the outside looking in as an injured player last Friday, a lot of it is mental and it is about getting everyone in the right frame of mind. It is about getting your confidence up and getting everyone to believe in you.

“Mick Potter is doing a great job. It is a tough time for him and for all of us. We just have to keep working hard together to get out of it. We trust Mick and what he does and we believe in him.”

Anasta also suggested five-eighth Benji Marshall would return to his best form soon after starting the match against Souths off the interchange bench.

“His reaction to being on the bench was amazing. He has been really positive,’’ Anasta said.

“Benji has been doing extras on and off the field. You will see a turnaround in him and his form in weeks to come. He has been putting the hard work in.”

good addition to the team, and a good foil for benji who i think can reemerge. Perhaps not as a Golden boot winner but as a valuable player in our team.

Brooks could also be a nice halfback for benj, if braith is injured or whatever, brooks will defenitely come up after or during the bye week. Seen potter looking at him in NSW Cup twice and apparently farah has come down there to see him too. Hope we have space iin the cap for him

Cant wait to have him back. I know that doesnt mean he will be able to perform miracles but if he takes pressure off Benji and allows Benji to run like last friday we might be in for a real chance

LETS GO WT !!!

Much needed boost his experience will be welcomed.

CARNNNN the WT

My question to Potter and Benji would be "Why is it that has taken until now for Benji to start working hard "

This "hardest off season ever" comments are really starting to take a battering

**“I think our form is a mental thing.** From the outside looking in as an injured player last Friday, a lot of it is mental and it is about getting everyone in the right frame of mind. It is about getting your confidence up and getting everyone to believe in you.

Yessss! Finally someone can see it, now let's do something about it! This is the reason why you're here at WT Braith - to instill a winning attitude.

Look Braith is way past his best and won't heavily impact many NRL games these days. However at this minute with all our injuries and inexperience he is a very welcome addition. I am very pleased with his comments coming out in support of the coach, something i think has been a little quiet or lacking through pre season and in this horrible run. Braith seems like the ultimate pro on and off the field, with a great footy brain. I would be looking at getting him a gig in a coaching capacity after he finishes,i think hr has got what it takes.

Like I said he is on the downhill slide as a player. However i think he unlike Benji, Moltzen, Blair and other blokes can provide some professionalism and direction, some leadership in really tough times, For mine he has to be captain when Farah is out.

Glad to hear Braith is confident of playing this week. He may be past his best but right now, his experience is invaluable. He is a great leader on the field and i'm very confident his presence will lead to our best performance in recent weeks. Not saying we'll win if he plays but Braith's ability to give direction and leadership has been sorely missed.

Braith may not be as quick as he used to be but he still has a good football brain. If he and Benji can combine, and Benji's turn around continues to improve, anything can happen. I'm staying positive. Go Tigers

Read all the comments so far and i can sense the excitement in all. We cant wait to have him back.

It will be real shame if Potter puts him back in 2nd Row 😱pen_mouth:
Will be waste of talent and no gain for us sadly

Anasta has a good attitude which is missing amongst some of our players. Although past his best, I think Anasta has much to offer. I watch last year how he lifted the Roostesr. Our youngsters can learn off him. His coming out to support the coach is a plus. Like him I think we can win in Leighkat. Lets show the cowboys we can play football.
