Yep. True or not, this will become an issue/ distraction.
Season over due to Pascoe not making a call either way.

That is why he should do it now, JT is not improving this team, or even at least giving this team the best possible chance to win games, this is no knee jerk reaction, it has been going on for way to long now.

I agree. Doing nothing is the worse thing we can do, but we'll do exactly that. NOTHING. Getting rid of Taylor will only be half the job tho. We won't improve as a club til Farah is gone aswell.

You may well be right, but we need to do something now, not in 10 or 12 weeks, we are being poorly coached, we are getting the same players making the same dumb mistakes every week, yet they keep getting picked.
We are one of the worst defensive teams in the NRL, we let in try's just before and just after halftime every week, we are mentally weak, and the coach has no idea how to fix these issues, it is not like he just turned up, he has been here since October 2014.

Incorrect - he has been coaching the Tigers since 2015.

I have been here as well - does that make me a coach?

If you get into the NRL you should be able to tackle, not picking on Nofo but it amazes me how he can run up out of the line and have an air swing at an opposing player without laying finger on them.

David Kidwell is one of the few survivors as new mentor Jason Taylor puts a broom through the Wests Tigers' coaching ranks.

Upon replacing Mick Potter, Taylor was given authority to bring in his own coaching staff and hasquickly embarked on a cleanout.

Former Tigers Steve Roach, Paul Sironen, Todd Payten and John Skandalis have remained involved with the club after their playing careers, but all will be moved on when pre-season training commences.

Like Potter, the quartet were all off contract and will not be given new deals. Sironen's role as NYC manager no longer exists, while Roach will always be welcome to contribute at Concord Oval despite the Tigers opting not to continue with a specialist forwards coach.

Tigers NYC coach Andrew Webster has accepted a job as an assistant to Andrew McFadden at the Warriors, while former assistant Payten isn't in the club's plans moving forward.

The Tigers are yet to settle on a strength and conditioning coach, a position that has been held by Luke Portese.

Kidwell, who was an assistant to Potter, has been given an opportunity to remain with the joint-venture outfit after impressing in his first year in the job. He is also poised to join the New Zealand national side as an assistant to Stephen Kearney for the Four Nations.

Kidwell has a relationship with Taylor from their time at South Sydney; Kidwell was the Rabbitohs captain when Taylor was the head coach at the foundation club.

While he has only recently been appointed, Taylor has already begun to put his stamp on the Tigers. He has appointed Matt Cameron, with whom he worked at Parramatta, as an assistant.

The former North Sydney halfback also has a good relationship with another former Eels official – the Tigers' new head of football, Phil Moss.

With the majority of his staff in place, Taylor is now focused on the best preparation for his playing roster when they return from their annual holiday. The former NSW representative has already met with his team .

"I've been pleasantly surprised with a number of things in relation to the attitude of the players," Taylor said.

"It is a tight group, which is something I'm pleased to come across. It's only early days. I've had a chat with the group and a few individuals."

One of those individuals is Robbie Farah. The captain has conceded there were times when he questioned his future at the club during a tumultuous year, but Taylor said the Blues rake was in a good frame of mind in the lead up to the pre-season.

"We've talked about a lot of things and we walked away confident that we'll build a good working relationship," Taylor said.

The Tigers recently announced the signings of Kevin Naiqama for a one-year deal, and Chance Peni for two seasons.

Naiqama joins the Tigers after a stint with Penrith in which he scored seven tries in eight NRL appearances and was a key member of the NSW Cup premiership-winning Panthers side

Am starting to get a bit concerned. Not the smartest football brain following the tigers but running Lovett and Buchanan and leaving MCK and Griffin on the side line doesn't add up and the Rankin thing on the wing is not working. We need someone to make the hard decisions which Taylor is not game to do and whilst it has nothing to do with being a good coach, he is terrible in front of the media and perception is killing him. Cleary is the option for me and stop stuffing around with the Halves (Brooks and Moses). I hope we keep both and they stay but again make the decision. I'd hate to go shopping with Taylor. Should I but the cornflakes or the weet bix.

Looks like goodbye Jason Taylor, welcome Todd Payten or Ivan Cleary sometime this season.
New football manager Mark O'Neill will pull the pin on Taylor.
Nothing personal against him but looks like J.T is not up to it.

Yeah! good idea - let's put in a white anter.

Plenty of unproven allegations re: media leaks made about previous Tigers coaching staff & admin.
Todd Payten has won an NRL comp as a Wests Tigers player & Under 20's comp as coach.
Ivan Cleary would be first choice as J.T's replacement but Todd Payten would also be considered.

I'm trying to give JT every opportunity this year in seeing if he has learn't anything from last year ?

My mind hasn't changed in that….i don't feel his the right Man for the Job .
Some of his Selections and Tactics so far this year are just plain dumb on so many levels .
With the reduction of interchanges ? It seems he is not looking after the rotation of our interchanges and Fatiguing our players for it .
Round 1 vs Warriors :sat Buchanan on the interchange bench for 80 minutes and wasn't even used
Round 3 vs the Titans : He gave Buchanan 18 minutes of game time , Josh Aloiai 24 minutes and Cherrington 27 minutes
Round 4 vs Eels : He gave Buchanan 24 minutes of game time and Cherrington 8 minutes
Round 5 vs Sharks : gave Josh Aloiai 23 Minutes and Cherrington 15 minutes

JT's rotation of the interchange and is Fatiguing our players , we are down on interchanges as it is and we can't have the luxury of these players playing so low in game time , if there not up to 1st Grade ? don't pick them .

Yeah he has had limited funds in getting his desired Squad but what fans are looking for ? are small steps in improvement and it is very hard to see any....they have had a bit more freedom but our halves still have no idea on building pressure , good example was Brooks Today running it on the 5th and passing the ball to Simona and gets tackled on the 5th on the halfway line , possession turned over and Sharks go 50 metres to score .
Learning defensive structures ? yeah right we are averaging 24 Points against us per game , simply not good enough .

Anyway we need to get in the Market desperately and buy some real quality for next year and release players like Buchanan , Lovett , Rankin , Farah , Sironen , Halatau .

Farah is way past it and is to slow and gives away way to many penalties these Days , Sironen is just injury prone and is not out on the field consistently enough to get some form , Halatau did a fine job Today but jut might be getting on for next year.....wouldn't rule out a cheap 1 year deal for him if he was up for it . Buchanan , Lovett , Rankin are nothing special and if we didn't have problems with our Cap ? they would just be State Cup players.

Brooks not bothered what he does to be honest , i just hope the Club isn't sacrificing our Squad just for him.....Teddy is the one they should worry about . Teddy for Prime Minister over Malcolm Turnball.

I've already whinged about this in a couple of other threads but I agree that the interchange management has been appalling. Just because Woods for example is capable of playing long minutes doesn't mean it's a good idea. 70 minutes tonight at prop. How is he going to go with backing up next week? Or the week after if he does it again next week? What impact does it have on the likelihood of injury?

Even in the game itself when players have that level of fatigue there's the risk they'll be just a half a step too slow in defence and miss tackles, or they'll make the tackles but be ineffective in the wrestle due to fatigue. The middle needs to be kept fresh. If we lose in the middle in games there's a high likelihood we will lose the game.

We'd be much better off with 50-55 (max) quality minutes out of Woods and Grant with quality props coming on from the bench to replace them. Jack Buchanan is not a quality prop, but Seumanufagai and Sue are, or at least they can be.

Start with Woods and Grant with Edwards (for example) at lock
Ava on at 25 for Grant (1 interchange)
Sue on at 30 for Woods (2 interchanges)
Grant back on at 50-55 for Edwards with Sue moving to lock (3 interchanges)
Woods back on at 55 for Ava (4 interchanges)

That has the middle covered with 4 interchanges with Woods, Grant, Sue and Edwards all playing about 50/55 minutes and Ava playing about 30\. The minutes obviously vary depending upon the intensity of the game and any injuries but those sort of numbers should be much more sustainable and should keep the middle fresh.

There are probably question marks over whether Joel Edwards would run out a straight 50 minutes which is part of the reason I think Elijah Taylor would be a good fit at lock for us. Sironen would be the other option to play in the middle once he's back from injury. I think he'd be better defensively there than he is out wide (less need for lateral speed/reaction) and should have the engine to play a straight 50 minutes.

Im against a coaching change.

For one we cant afford another payout and look bad.

For two Taylor deserves a proper 2-3 year stint.

Three tonights match was not his fault.

And 4 I don't think another coach is going to work wonders anyway.

We matched it ok with a Top 4 team. Some poor drops and ill discipline was costly.

If after 2-3 years the team is still around the bottom then Ill say goodbye Jt but until then get on with it, knuckle down and keep trying to improve.

This season is far from over but Taylor is again a concern. This is the same as last year and he fooled some people who are stupid enough to buy into his talk about past players/coaches and structures and defence. It was all smoke and mirrors.

Our squad isn't that bad. I just don't see us as having dud players. There is enough there for Taylor to work with.

This was an outright lie. You would have to be stupid to buy it. Does anyone seriously think that we haven't any defensive structures the whole time we've been in the comp. I mean this is honestly one of the all time dumbest comments that I have ever heard.

I'm not really that concerned at the moment apart from Brooks, Moses and good old JT. Robbie has been good. We shouldn't resign the guy because he isn't anywhere near our best player and he is on way too much money but let him finish up and it's all good.

Taylor has time to get it back together. He has made some mistakes but it's nowhere near like last year. I wouldn't state that he is killing our chances. I don't think he lost the game for us today. At the same time he simply doesn't look like a good coach because he seems to make key mistakes and when he opens his mouth he says stupid stuff.

I hope he turns it around because I don't want another dud season and definitely not one next year.

Why does Kidwell seemingly escape any criticism? He has been the one constant in several years of mediocrity, and isn't he the defensive coach?

Yes he is….also up for photo shoots in Bali...

I am concerned that a lot of our interchange players are not getting enough minutes in their legs and think that they should look at being dropped to NSW cup once every month or so with a view to them playing 60 minutes.Aloiai looks to have a future, but am worried that if there is an injury, how would he go playing 45mins next week?

I see on the Tigers website under the team lists that Jason Tatyor is coaching the Newcastle Knights team!!!!!!

I don't know why he is still here but even thinking about this makes you realize how much palava JT spoke last year. I mean Kidwell has been the defensive coach for a while and he is still there.

he is the 'forwards' coach iirc, not the defensive coach.
