I want him in first grade asap, he is a special player. He is the best classical style lock prospect I have seen in years. He has dominated the Under 20s State of Origin and shown that he rises on the big stage. When we have plodders blocking the first grade access of guys like this we risk losing them, make way.

definitely looks good.

difference is now that potter is coach, theres a chance santi might actually get a run.

Just posted in the other thread about him. WOW! Very impressive. Can imagine he will get a run soon for us.

He made 3 clean line breaks in a rep game. And he was involved in defense all night. Outstanding effort.

For a guy touted for d and who got into the side on that alone (seriously how many rep players are selected purely for their defense?) he showed loads of attack. I like the players that come ready made with solid defence. Methinks that he just turned himself into a star in that match. I reckon he'll take his game to another level from here on in. Unload on him to be NYC player of the year if he doesn't get a call up.

Agree Mac..have been watching him for last 2 seasons and been very impressed. Was initially thinking he needed to put on more body weight to make the transition but don't know if his metabolism will do that in the short term as he seems to be one of those 'fast tick' players…a bit like Fulton. Watching him in warm up for NYC and interacting with the other players and fans he has a very high level of self confidence in his own ability..not arrogance ..just self belief. If it were me I would give him a go off the bench in NRL for a few games and see how he handles the pressure

Hopefully he just played himself into a run in firsts sooner rather than later.
He and Fulton together would be a great defensive line.
& he seems to have a bit in attack

I would be blooding Santi immediately based on that performance. He has cycled Sue, Akaoula, Spence and Seumanufagai through firsts, why not Santi? I would be more confident with Santi even because I'm pretty sure he'd have a crack, not shirk his duty and be solid enough in D to not cause us any negatives. He'd be the perfect player to throw into firsts and let grow into the role because he is so consistent.

Think like any back rower we shouldn't rush him, give him this year in 20s and then a year in nsw cup to build up with a few games in firsts next year. Don't ruin a great young player by rushing them

Usually I'd agree but I think he's got the right stuff to learn his trade in the big leagues tbh. His defense mainly, but his confidence and work ethic too. He comes up with big plays.

Santi has been on the radar for a long time though hasn't he? Its not like getting a run in 1st grade would be rushing him at this point.

Santi, Lovett and Brooksall trained with the top squad during the off-season and I reckon Santi and Lovett will get their chance next year.

First time I've seen Santi for a while. Definitely first time this season. Geez he was great tonight. His workrate was tremendous. Plenty of tackles and some real good running. Super impressed by him. Looks a real prospect for us. Probably got his work cut out with the plethora of young backrowers we have, but Potter may use him in a rotation with the like of Sue, Spence and Akoula.

I agree that Santi played really well last night and his form for the 20s this year has been strong. Great to see. But, it hasn't always been that way. I thought his form in the 20s last year and in 2011 was patchy at best. In 2013, he has developed his running game and is playing with a lot of confidence. As a former captain of Australian Schoolboys' he sure has the pedigree to be special. Go champ!! Make the most of your opportunities.

12 months down the track, this kid will be in our Starting 13… He will be our Gallen for the next 10 years [not the silly prop Gallen, the hard working backrower who never says die model]

For 2013, or more so towards the back end, maybe Brendan is an option to give Farah 'that rest'? His work out of dummy half is honest, he is a tackle machine and has grown this year in his ability to break tackles?
