Brenden Santi signs with Eels

Big mistake by the tigers.how they can sign Lovett and brown over him is hard to contemplate.oh we'll our lost eels gain.but I do believe in a few years we will be regretting letting him go.

I watched him play last week against the Warriors, he was very average, hands like feet & missed a lot of tackles. Good decision by the selectors

When they leave they always say that….Potter doesn't seem happy Benji is leaving but i bet he is doing handstands in private...they all play the game very well.
If they want to keep a player they will. If they don't it's salary cap pressure blah blah blah...sorry to see them go.

Still don't understand what the point is. He has been recruited through two clubs therefore hes no good?

we are in a tricky position, because we can't keep paying good money to untested players in the nrl.sure you can pay a little over to keep some, but you can't with everyone.no point developing juniors if you still have to be high bidder.

hopefully we have picked the right ones to keep.

Agreed always disappointing to see players with potential leave.
Potential doesn't always lead to first grade quality thou !

Most clubs have maybe three players at any one time coming through their junior system that are realistic future NRL players,by junior system I mean u20s and SG Ball. We on the other hand have a lot of players, so the money has to be spread out and eventually the club has to make choices now, rather than in a few years. when it is more obvious who is going to make it and who isnt. In Santi's case Iam sure they would have signed him if their was only a couple coming through the system

I agree with this statement.

We have an unusal amount of players come through all at once, we are going to miss a few.

Santi is a clear first grader, anyone saying elsewise clearly does not really follow lower grades. What happens once they get there is harder to predict.

We have most of good kids signed for at least next year with Moses, Brooks, Lovett, Tedessco, Simona, Sirro, Noffa and Korobete are locked for at least '14

further away or next tier we have a few lined up also with Brown, Matt Woods, B Siro, Cherrington.

We are still in good shape with the youngsters, but i would really like to have Santi stay.

I've watched all there games except for the interstate games.true what you say about Santi being a firstgrade player and this year has been close to the best defender in the comp.ppl are saying he to small 98kg and still growing. Will fill out and be a solid 100kg plus player who can play 80 mins give you a high work rate .plus the guy bagging him saying he's been let go by 2 clubs already should realise when he was let go by the dog he went on and captained the Australian school boys .good decision by the dogs?. Now been released by tigers but no doubt make the u/20s Australian team and you say he's no good cos he's been released by 2 clubs.i think he must be ok then to play for your country and state.

I know it's hard to keep most of our good young talent. But I honestly thought we would of kept Santi with Brooke's mosses and Lovett from this team as a priority

If Brooks and Mosses dont sign we could look a little silly!!!!Theirs lots of clubs out their wanting to throw silly money around. Iam sure we have the front running but its not over to the fat lady sings. Any whispers coming out of Camp Concord?????

Well we have them locked up for next year at the very least on NYC deals

If his so good and a future leader why have 2 clubs been happy to let him go ?

Where do I start with players that have been let go and gone on to do great things at other clubs? Yes there are obviously players let go who have done nothing (which is your argument) but I have watched Santi and he is good. Have you watched him play?

He did have a bad game on Friday night though.

P.S Guess where we got Mitch Moses from?

**He's = He is**

We got Mitch from Parra as they wanted to get him into a successful JR program and the Balmain one was flagging at the time.

He wanted back to Balmain shortly after as his team mates from Holy Cross were headed there in decent numbers

My take on this - we've won the SG Ball two years running and NYC last year. It's inevitable that we will lose a few of these players, there is not enough money nor opportunities at just the one club.

these are the best 4 imo and should be our priority but guess they would also have the most offers from other clubs

Obviously you don't watch him on a weekly basis!

Against the Warriors Santi made the most runs (17) for 135m, had the 2nd highest tackle count of 34, gave an offload and made a tackle break; So for an 80min workhorse to do all that and only miss 5 tackles on a rare off night…...
I think you're being a bit harsh on the kid!

Keep in mind that he signed with the Eels this same weekend and for a youngster who is about to, or may have that day, sign his first top 25 NRL contract.......
I can understand why he played a little distracted so cut the kid some slack!
