Brian Smith report

I do support Potter, I also support the idea of a review, whether poorly timed or not. If the results of that review impact negatively on a coach I have previously supported, then I am prepared to modify or change those positions.

What concerns me is the idea that Potter struggles to communicate especially with developing or fringe players complaining they don't know what they need to do or areas to work on, we have a young squad that needs to be nurtured, if Potter isn't suited to that purpose we may need to consider not extending his contract past this year.

Should a club be run like this? Ideally, no. But its a massive improvement over previous years, we didn't dig ourselves into this hole in 6 months, we won't get out of it in 6 months either. While not perfect, Mayer has been a terrific addition off field, this is not a debatable fact as far as I'm concerned, although your opinion might differ.

As far as me supporting backstabbing, I've really been trying to cut down as my kitchen draw is running low.

Smith has lost every Grand Final he ever got into with a variety of teams. So what does he do .. teach us how to lose??? What a shameful effort my the Board and Mayer.

Smith is severely misunderstood. He's not the kind of coach suited to building a team and winning premierships. What he does best is coming into a club whose struggling as a hatchet man and getting rid of all the deadwood. The guy is ruthless. You bring him in for a short term arrangement of about 2 or 3 yrs, then once he's put his stamp on the side, set hm free. People talk about him like he's Ricky Stuart for gods sake.

Smith also turned Parramatta from a complete rabble into a team that consistently made the semi finals.

He may not have won a grand final, but the way some people talk about him as if he's the worst coach in history is laughable.

Yep. I wouldnt want Smith as coach but he is probably the best restructuring coach in the game. Happy the club is looking to improve and used on of the smartest guys in the game to do so.

Was mark webber a failure in f1 cos he didn't win championship ? Brian smith has coached over 500games. And how many final series ? How many coaches last 100 games ? He has been involved every step of rugby league. U don't last that long in any job without knowing wat u doing In the 90s he created a parramatta junior army of talent. He was way ahead of every club in junior management. But hey these are just facts Wat would he know. Bet newspapers forget bout that ??

Spot on. Smith is maligned by media clowns like Rothfield and co. That says it all.

He may not have won a grand final, however he got his teams there on more than one occasion. He took over the Dragons and Parramatta when then they were a complete rabble and turned them into a consistent force. He took over Newcastle when they were a rubbish and was tasked with re-building the club, getting rid of all the deadwood and setting them up for the next few years.

It's not the coach or players that need an overhaul at wests tigers in the friggin management .
Hiring smith to look into our operations is a complete joke . Brian smith's a knob … Period !

We should have a review of the review process.

Bollocks.

….....great idea, what other washed up coaches with an axe to grind are out there.

So do we ditch having a review all together? Or do we still have a review conducted, but not by anyone who previously coached or was involved in the game in any way?

Plenty of people willing to bag, but whats your alternative suggestions just out of curiosity?
