Brookes wants to test his worth

We will always struggle to match other clubs offers for any of our players because of the lop-sided TPAs

Yes, we will match any team against the normal salary cap if we are keen on keeping Broses but the top clubs will kill us with TPAs being also offered.

The NRL is NOT an even competition. It favours some clubs over others. The Broncos/Cowboys will offer $400,000, we will offer $600,000 and a player will still leave - "to be at a winning club". All the while it was the additional $400,000 plus a house that sealed the deal.

You check out last weeks game, he was grappling a player around the head that the player took offence at so a donny_Brook was almost on, right near our try line. A few times that has happened. Bit like Ennis.

I don't blame him for looking after his self-interests. We would all probably do the same.

As long as there is open and honest transparency between the Club and Brooks then by all means test the market….as long as he gives the WT the final say to **_MATCH_** the biggest offer…Gone should be the days we pay overs or structure ridiculous contracts for our players
 
im still a fan, i think he can become a solid player for us within a year or two

hope we can resign him, but not on too much

Seriously though, I actually thought we played better with Littlejohn at half and Moses controlling the game at five eighth and I'd be happy to stick with that combination for the future. I know Brooks and Moses have played all their footy together, but sometimes they just seem to nullify and cancel each other out in matches for some reason. Maybe it's a struggle for control? I dunno.

Yeah so did I.

My only concern in all this is how much power pull these 3 have ( Teddy, Brooks, Moses) , i mean if we offer Brooks less than what he wants? Are Teddy and Moses going to jump at his defence and say we sign as a package etc or vica versa with any of them.
I'm hoping the Club doesn't get sucked in to these player power or the majority of our Salary Cap will be eaten by these 3.
We have suffered enough with massive lessons learnt, surely the Club aren't that silly and paying overs for players not worth there salt.

This Club is renowned for paying overs for underperforming players.

Maybe Brooks and Moses can take this into consideration with there next Contracts as they have been underperforming the last couple of years with what they've been paid.
Moses is slowly making some progress but consistently on a weekly basis they are both miles behind.
But it all comes down to the Supply and demand with these positions and Age, and yes the Potential still to be achieved.

That's understandable he wants to test this worth in the market, I'm sure a lot of players would do this. Having said that however, I wouldn't blame the club for seeking out other options too.. Adam Reynolds would be nice. In fact given the choice of both, at a similar price I'd take Reynolds.

I so want to be wrong, but I just don't think Brooks has any more to give. And to compare him to others is only fair. Gold Coast, Panthers are close to us on the table and therefore are valid comparisons.

Agree 100%. Tedesco $1million, Moses $750k, Brooks $500k. If Brook is not happy then wouldnt be too dissapointed. Hopefully we stagger their deals so they arent all coming off contract at the same time. Its going to be a circus around the tigers next year. Lets face it Thurston and Hunt wont be going Anywhere. Could be some desperate clubs chucking over at them.

JLJ resigned for another season, didn't he? He may be the winner out of all this especially if the club throw the kitchen sink at Teddy & Moses and Brooks is the one to leave.
 
From what I saw of Benji against WT I much prefer him on $300K-$400 than Brooks on $500K. Benji does not go MIA as Brooks has a few times.
 
It's not as much of a worry losing Brooks anymore. The priority signings are becoming clearer and I think most would agree that Teddy and Moses are both in front of him. The latter was for a while on par but Moses has now stepped up another level while Brooks is much the same as he's always been. I'm starting to think now that Teddy and Moses are such standouts that we really don't need a star halfback, just someone solid to foil both of them. JLJ is probably a decent option, will save a lot of cap space and that pretty much guarantees we won't lose our real stars from a financial perspective.

In all honesty though, if Brooks is asking a big price then there are far better options on the market, so it wouldn't be a great loss.

Are you talking about the Cows Kiwi backrow player who got the house and I don't know its legal off there board member who gave it to him for 400K under marker Value
