The biggest issue last night was not Brooks. Its Laurie and that disgraceful decision not to go to the bunker.

I was a supporter of Brooks, but when something has to give, it would be better for him and us if there was a change.
I feel desperately sorry for the guy. People are giving it to him after the end of the warriors game when he didn't take control. Whilst it's his job to control, not even Cooper cronk would be able to sort that mess. Let's get some context......
His spine was Laurie, Madden, Simpkin/Liddell. Not exactly the team you would have if going to war, let's face it. And on top of that, in the last ten minutes, I don't think I have seen so many glory hogs pushing their way into dummy half and trying to run themselves from 10m out.
So even if it was Cronk calling the shots, there is no regular dummy half service in the last 10minutes. You just don't get the ball anyway. Every tool wants to run themselves, Gildart, Simpkins, Luciano, Noffa, Madden, all got into dummy half at those stages and cut off everything, every single play the ball.
So to bash Brooks I see unfair in my opinion. But hey, plenty on here think he is the reason for our demise and that's their opinion, but how about some context. He rarely gets the service he needs, has not been behind a decent forward pack ever, is always on the back foot with no time to make decisions. It's no wonder what he does is in effective and often poor. If you think changing the person in the 7 will improve the forwards dominating, a decent and consistent dummy half, remove the glory hogs, then go ahead. Do it.

the amount of times Simpkin went himself when the halves demanded the ball shit me. I used to have a lot of time for him previously but I’m starting to think he just doesn’t have the tools to cut it in the NRL

Not sure what the fuss is with this dude. As I said in another thread, some are seeing him as a Brandon Smith clone all because he has the same body shape.

The problem is in this instance this narrative isn't true. He was good. He played at pace and created opportunities.
In my opinion Brooks problem is that he cannot play like he did yesterday consistently and when there are big moments in games he often goes missing. He is a quality role player in a quality team.
We need him to be a great player and he isn't.

You just stated the issue clearly. Unless Brooks can consistently win us games when the game is on the line he isn't good enough for us.
The problem is there are very few players in the comp that have this ability.
We needed to get Latrell.
Alternatively we need to change our expectations of Brooks and not make him such a centre piece. If he gets dropped it shouldn't be a huge issue as well. It just means we have better players to take his spot.
You can't put Madden under the same pressure Brooks is on though. It's too much and he won't be up to it. Maybe Hastings and Doueihi can do the job but it's a tough ask.

He looked great in the trials. Is he as bad as Simpkin was yesterday ? That was one of the worst performances I've ever seen from a dummy half.

He becomes a focus point and he shouldn't be. It's completely unrealistic expectations of him as a player and we should all know better.
