Brooks is no good

Brooks is not the problem it's the team around him.
Our forward pack doesn't bend the line and get teams on the back foot. His go to men on the edge are Kev, Lawrence, ET, Lovett, Marsters. His hooker Mcilwrick draws no defenders either runs or shovels and his 5/8 is new to the team. He has not lived up to expectations but you have to judge him when Liddle, Packerlino, McQueen, Suli, Milne and Reynolds are in the team.

That isn't fair to the players around Brooks. Brooks needs to do his job well. As for the players you've mentioned they were all pretty good out there today.

He needs to improve no doubt and his defence and fifth tackle options are hot and cold. What cost us this game was our lack of go forward out of our own end in the second half. Forwards went nowhere and Penrith had a mountain of possession on our try line. Woods and Grant were very average today and Ava needs to be in the bench

Very average 1st half, all the usual stuff, poor 5th tackle options, some shocking passes, than I thought he had a strong second half. Very hard to shine as no7 when every set your 90m from the try line. Badger was poor as always and certainly gifted the Pennys plenty of yards and possession

What a load of garbage. Badger was pro Tigers today. Our shocking hands and poor defence, as always, lost that game.

I'm not one to bag refs normally but Badger did everything he could to get Penrith over the line today. Some of the calls were shocking.

Shocking hands and poor defence and lack of skill certainly were behind the loss. But for you to suggest Badger was pro Tigers is the single dumbest thing ive ever heard come out of your mouth. I don't know how it looked on TV up the in QLD, but at Pepper Stadium there were two teams playing footy, only one being policed on 10 metres.

Blaming the ref is the tactic of the excuse maker. You blamed him before the game even got going so what does that say? We got the rub, the refs had no bearing on that result.

Then look at MM 11 missed tackles.

He was poor today too, we need to have both in reggies to make the 8 next year

Wow 11 missed tackles in 1 game! That's atrocious! He gave away quite a few penalties as well.

As for Brooks, well it wasn't his worst game for us, but if there has been any improvement over the years, it's extremely minuscule. I really wish the club would look at buying an experienced half like Robson or Hodkinson to partner Reynolds next season. I have no confidence in a Brooks/Reynolds partnership at all.

Brooks really needs to work on his last play options they are terrible. Bombs to give away a 20 metre tap, bombs chases can't get to and the opposition player is just standing there waiting to taking, kicking it from our own half straight to their winger so we they start their set on the front foot.

Brooks could partner with Thurston and somehow look average, he needs to be taken out of the equation, I am so sick of the excuses and apologists, he has had enough time and be given every opportunity, he has stunk it up for way too long.

I thought the refs were ok actually, I didn't think there was any favouritism either way. Sure they made a couple of bad calls, but it definitely went both ways. Penrith's disallowed try when Woods took a dive comes to mind

His defence has come a long way, unfortunately his attack appears to have gone backwards..

Lolohea is playing with more confidence in attack than Brooks

Brooks 15 tackles, 7 missed tackles, yeh his defence is his strong point

lol, before this game has hasnt been doing too bad

When he doesnt miss he is making SOME good tackles landing bigger blokes on their backs

I can live with his missed tackles if he could improve his attack

Right now he is proving to be a liability

I could cop the missed tackles too if he offered some form of 5th tackle options in attack, run the team or done something constructive when we had the ball, but he doesn't, so drop him off the bus.

Jt set him back his playing better than he was . Love seeing him run.

Nucky,JT didn't set him back,Moses is a better playmaker than Brooks and overshadowed him,he may run well but his kicking game and defense still have a lot of NYC about them as well as overhyped potential….

I just mean I see glimpses of that kid running in his first game against St George again. Jt was coaching him to play differently.

Kicking game aside, I thought he did well today.

But his kicking game is whats creating the problems - he would be rated last in halves in 5th tackle options and closing out games - his running and passing game is ok but if thats the case he is not a modern day halfback. I'm not sure his kicking game is ever going to improve and if thats the case he will always struggle in NRL.

One of the problems with Brooks kicking game is we do not get close enough to roll the ball into the in goal to get a repeat set. At best the 5th tackle is on our attacking 30 most time further out. So he has only one option the bomb.

Rubbish - every time we get close enough to put a short kick in he kicks over the deadball line.

If you plonked Brooks into the Storm they'd miss the 8.
We can buy as many players as we like for next year it won't matter if Brooks is wearing the 7.

We need a halfback and I won't stop pointing that fact out until we get one. It's our biggest problem and has been since Prince left.

Shades of Parra and Sterling - except they seem to have found their halfback.

Or into oppositions legs…..

Honestly Nucky he has shown glimpses of brilliance, that debut he had Potter as coach and Benji alongside of him,Potter didn't last and Moses came in and they were both touted as being the future of the Tigers in the halves….JT was a halfback and was pretty good at it,maybe he can't coach or maybe Brooks hasn't got what's needed to make it at NRL level.....I think I will take the latter....

The reality is good halfbacks will cost 700k to 1m.
There aren't many around Thurston, Cronk, Maloney. Then the next level Pearce, Reynolds, Taylor. Not one of them is under 700k. We are stuck with Brooks and have to put a team around him and hope Cleary can mentor him and see what happens.?
