Brooks under pressure

what gripes me most about brooks, isnt his lack of talent, or his general play, its his lack of his own self belief.

he plays scared. there's no warrior in him, mongrel, or fight.

yes he tackles well, sometimes, and has some moments of class, but 80% of the time, when he has ball in hand, I never get the sense that he's confident in what hes about to do. it's like he plays without a clear objective in mind.

how is the rest of the team supposed to follow then.

I was at the pub watching the game last night with a couple of mates. I told them at the 60 minute mark exactly how the game would end down to who kicks the winning field goal in overtime. The ending didn't surprise me at all.

It is just plain difficult being a Tigers supporter. I try to be an optimist and prefer to think we will improve and become more consistent as opposed to crying in the foetal position - done plenty of that in the past.

Narural leaders will always take control. If it
hasnt happened now cant see it ever happening.
To me it looks like the players dont follow him because they dont trust his abilty to lead, and after 6 seasons of FG that soley rests on Brooks shoulders.
He is a ball runner at best, and on his day a pretty good one.

A lot of supporters seem to want to blame brooks for tonight’s loss Evan though masters could not kick a goal he converts 1 we don’t go to extra time a12year old whould have kicked at least 1 but I suppose it was brooks who missed

I agree with you 100% the game was lost from the goal kicking perspective , and nothing else.

I think Brooks still goes alright - I mean if knives are out already for the incumbent Dally M halfback of the year and incumbent NSW Origin half then really, who is safe. Which half is going well apart from Roosters and Souths?

Milford and Nikorima are hopeless, Lachlan Lewis borderline, Aidan Sezer has been hooked already, Ash Taylor barely back from injury, Maloney doing nothing, Morgan struggling without Thurston, DCE struggling, Ponga has been moved to FB etc.

No arguments, Brooks is not a clutch kicker and never has been. For a guy who really strikes them solidly, he struggles to kick FGs. Brandy even said after the match that in the warm-up Brooks was slotting FGs like nothing, but it's a different thing to do it under pressure.

But it's not as if Benji has a lock on clutch kicks either. Farah has kicked 16 FGs in his career apparently, why didn't he have a crack (he hasn't kicked one since 2012)?

If Benji is back next round I'd Marshall at 7 and Reynolds at 6\. Drop Brooks- poor performance has to have penalties. He can earn his promotion back.

Lucky bounce of the ball rounds one and two! I think we will make the 8 and build on our performances to date? Surely we can only get better?

Reynolds was our best. When Benji is fit again, no offense to Benji but you can't drop Reynolds. It's not even an option. Realistically coach won't drop Brooks either, so idk where Benji fits back in. Player 14? But our bench stacked with forwards seems to be working well, so I doubt whether coach would change that either.

When all three are fit, it just doesn't work to have them all in the side. Benji waits for an injury I guess.
