Brooks under pressure

What boggles my mind is Brooks has been in grade for about 5 years now. Id assumed he would know with a 6 point lead with 10 - 15 to go to kick for touch at the end of the set to grind down the clock control the tempo give our pack a chance to grab a breather and reset our defensive line and slow the game down. But no put a bomb up on the fifth because the other thousand times it was useless dont matter xause maybe the thousand and furst time will do something. What the heck is he thinking.

😠😠😠😠😠😠😠

SOUTHS FANS are calling for a new half back as he missed the field goal!

WHAT A RIDICULOUS STATEMENT

Unusual for him … plus he doesn’t go into hiding when the pressure is on.

Yeh he missed a field goal, and a penalty goal, but he nailed the kick from out wide to draw level with time almost up, sent it to golden point

Seriously, besides Cronk and Cleary, how many halfbacks are consistent? Almost none of them. It’s fine to have high expectations on Brooks, but don’t pretend he’s any worse than the majority of halfbacks running around.

Andrew Johns could control a game at will. Haven't seen Brooks take control of a single game.
How he was ever tagged as the next Joey is beyond me.
Watching Mitchell Moses tonight and it's easy to see we let the wrong one go.

give credit where credit is due, at lease with moses he fires up, he has energy, he gets his team going. Brooks just looks like a lost boy on the field.

If we could get Moses' energy and put it into Brooks…..

having said that, still dont like him lol

I’ve been saying forever his biggest problem is his personality. He’s scared of his own shadow. Halfbacks need to be able to be loud mouths, barking orders. Brooks doesn’t have that in him.

Someone else suggested switching him and Reynolds. What’s the difference. Halves all play the same role these days.

So do we cut Brooks & start to look for a new half? Like a few have said Brooks is not one for barking orders. It will be interesting to see what Madge does with the squad.

Sorry - I can’t agree with that call.

Moses? Really? The same Mitch Moses who lead Parra to the spoon last year?

The same Mitch Moses whose last game in our colours had more missed tackles than metres gained.

The same Mitch Moses who claimed mental health issues to take up bus offer at Parramatta?

Sure - Mitch had a solid game but one swallow doesn’t make a summer.

I agree that Brooks has had a quieter start to the year than we wanted but he is defensively sound and is clearly trying. Remember, he has a new coach and a new set of expectations that he may be getting used to.

I am willing to give him some time….but I do agree that he shouldn’t be the go to with field goal attempts.

It doesn’t matter what we think.

The better question is whether or not the club is going to shop him around 4 games into a 5 year contract. You’ve got a better chance of moving to Mars. The hyperbole around this is getting ridiculous. This isn’t SuperCoach. You can’t simply trade out players after a few bad games. He’s here to stay, and the sooner you all accept that, the better off you will be.

*End rant*

People underestimate what Benji does for us. He is our cooper Cronk that conducts and controls play for us.

You could see without him in attack we were off the pace, a mess most of the time and one point described as under 6 with one off passes and losing meters in attack.

The scary thing is we will go nowhere without Benji.

I agree with the Reynolds Benji combo as the best thing for the side

Yes it's amazing how well Moses can play when his forward pack is ripping through the middle, landing on their fronts and getting quick play the balls. It must be great for him to play off the back of that. Something at this point Brooks has only ever been able to dream about. Parra is playing good footy at the moment, but they beat a Sharks side well down on cattle last night. The true test of Moses will come when the wheels start to fall off through either injury or form and old Mitch needs to stay composed. Will he revert to calling team mates…......female genitalia again?

Two weeks ago plenty of people were happy with the way Brooks was playing. He was no worse than the State of Origin halves the other night. Yes, he missed two shots at field goal, but he wasn't alone. Former origin 5/8 Reynolds also missed a shot. There is one reason and one reason only the game was lost, and it wasn't Brooks or Reynolds taking those shots.
