It's clear that at the moment there's no one running the show. This is killing us. A lot of that falls on Brooks, but there's also the undeniable impact of Robbie and Benji in unsettling the rhythm of the side too.
Brooks' confidence is way down the past few weeks. He seems under pressure to need to perform so he's trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat at the wrong times. And it's costing us 7 tackle sets, and last Friday the win. Reynolds will help him by having a non dominant halves partner who can chip in to the attack. As he did very well on Friday.

Potential… Potential...
It is the magic word keeping Brooks's career alive.
I think we all need to realize the actual real-life situation here that that Brooks might never reach his potential. That we as fans are all being taken on this long and painful ride that doesn't lead anywhere.
And, if we really want to be honest with ourselves we might even be prepared to say that perhaps we were all wrong about his potential. (But that might be a stretch for some...).
*Note: Time has passed since the loss, so this is not a knee-jerk, emotional reaction. I have posted my thoughts on Brooks for a while.* 5 years in the pros is certainly enough to make that judgment call. More than enough.
Nobody likes to admit to misjudgment. Moreover, we have all put so many eggs in his basket. But, like any failed investment, relationship or otherwise, there comes a time to realize when it's time to move on and cut losses. It's hard and it's emotional. I admit I'm no expert in finance, but surely success relies on realizing sunk costs and making the tough calls.

Sure Brooks has positive moments, but nowhere near enough. Not even close. And a poor halfback is a liability. Now, I'm not blaming Brooks for every loss, but no team can carry such a weak halfback and hope to win anything.
Once again, I want to stress that I was all for Brooks and was prepared to wait to see if he can come good. But I am tired of waiting. Tired of losing.
I want to win.

Brooks crumbled under pressure Friday night. Cleary rose to the occasion with 2 clutch plays to win the game.
I've been a fan of Brooks and thought he was excellent last year. But he was extremely disappointing on Friday night.

I think we are losing our bananas a bit about these loses. Madge has a plan i think we look better especially in the forwards. The aggressive running etc. Brooks is a great 2nd fiddle imo. He plays that role well we need to stop pushing him into team control. Reminds me a bit of Benji. Sheens tried to make him a organising half instead of letting him roam and run.

Only replace a player when you have a better player waiting. Consistency is the issue he was great for most of last year. We can’t seem to get everyone playing to their potential every game.

Another Cleary gift that keeps on giving.
He was never going to recruit a top halfback while Nathan was still an option. He screws our roster stacking it with 5/8 options for his son.
We need to move either Benji or Reynolds and recruit a half to pressure Brooks. The reserve grade kid isn't up to it yet

Such short-term memory. Mitchell Moses has done SFA for most of his career, but he has a few good games and suddenly he's a yardstick. What nonsense.
Maybe if Brooks was playing off Parra's current platform and up-tempo play then Brooks would be able to "take charge".
The odd thing for me is I am observing very large swings in form from every side except Melbourne. As disappointing as last Friday was, Tigers are still Top 8 and very much on par with how a number of teams are travelling.
The idea that suddenly Brooks is a problem for us after 50% wins and just 4 matches, I don't know where that comes from. The bloke was Dally M halfback of the year last year and it's taken 3-4 rounds for the knives to come out. How close has Mitchell Moses gone to Dally M HB of year?
If there's a much better option out there, fine, let's sign him up. But I don't see it. As others have said, and I said earlier, the only in-form halves I can see right now are Luke Keary and Cameron Munster. They both play in great sides with great forwards platform, which Luke Brooks cannot be said to have week in and out.
