Brooks

The Bulldogs defence was tremendous and our forwards couldn't lay the best platform, but his kicking game was woeful. Was screaming for Moses to take some control while we were still only a couple of tries down. Moses got some opportunities but way too late and was looking for the miracle play.

How much of this is Taylor's coaching? - wanting Brooks to be the main play maker.

At a strong club he would have 12 months in NSW to either make or break his career.

Here he is running around on 600K with no pressure to perform and an option in his favour.

Aaaarrrrr, it's good to be a Wests Tigers supporter, such a groundbreaking club.
Find two average halves , don't give them any real assistance, then when they show that neither of them is capable of producing more than one or two good games per season. Throw the bank at them. Despite the fact that no other club doesn't want a bar of them.
Jeez we must be laughed at by every club in the League, including Newcastle, as were certainly their bunny

Brooks' current main problem is his lack of confidence which stems from being thrown into first grade without sufficient experience to hone his skills against the bigger men. A few weeks in State Cup would do Brooks the world of good and he will come back from it to first grade a very much better player for the experience. Jason Taylor is actually being very counter productive to Brooks' development by insisting that he plays first grade week in and week out irrespective of his form.

Our halves never seem to take a game by the throat and own it. Not with decent teams anyway. Brooks needs to be more vocal and communicate clearly on the field. Half the time his plays go astray, because his team mates seem to have no idea what he's going to do.
Like others said, i too would like to see them combine a lot more.

That pass from dummy half that he spilt and made a mess of pretty much summed up the day he was having on sunday

And that was the set that he kicked the 40/20….Rocks n diamonds play within minutes

Brooks has shown sparks but his greatness still lies is in potential only.

We have been waiting patiently (and sometimes not so patiently) for him to show signs of maturity but for a veteran of 50 games his deficiencies still far outweigh his positives. Except for maybe two games the guy has arguably been a liability; a burden in defense near impossible to shoulder and substandard in attack to boot.

The halfback is perhaps the most important position and it is frankly unacceptable for a guy wearing the 7 to perform so badly week in week out; to have such an average kicking game; to completely ignore defensive responsibility but most importantly to exert so little control in attack. A 7 is supposed to stamp authority on a game, instead he gets stamped on.

It says a lot about our team that we tolerate such garbage.

I think that it says a lot more about our coach. He is certainly very, very tolerant.

Spot on Maxxy. Wish he just stick with the diamonds…

I was watching a James Tedesco highlights video on YouTube yesterday.
Luke Brooks featured in half of that package.
Had me wondering has he turned crap or was he always doing special plays mixed with crap in between?

They were both playing so well under Potter, both were great for eachother.

I'd like to see Brooks come off the bench around the 30 min mark. Play a good defensive player at 5/8 and Moses at 7 for the first half an hour.

Coach, please take off the rose coloured glasses. With our current forward pack we simply cannot continue to play two small halves and a small centre in our defensive line.

It was even worse when Cherrington was there but that seems to have been addressed, so now let's get Moses into #7 with a bigger #6 into defence.

Next move will be to address the Kevvie situation… as much as I like the bloke and he can be a diamond in attack, he is mostly throwing up rocks in defence. A big capable centre would change things on our RHS.

I'd prefer something similar. Play Brooks for the full 80, but bring Moses off the bench mid way through the second half, like Madge did with Keary. We played so much better with Brooks and Lawrence in the halves.

Watching many games every weekend the one thing that Luke has to do is step up ..get involved and dominate as there are many young players doing just that ATM .
