Add to that the game was on free to air…. Love how ppl get on their high horses because they live in the “inner west”Good point you raise @Chicken_Faced_Killa re Us V out of town team Newcastle.....not a very attractive game as N'castle are nearly as 💩 as We are, so why would you bother to travel all the way from there to watch a 💩 team when you can watch the match in the comfort of your comfy recliner lounge chair. Fair dinkum people complain about travelling from the inner West of Sydney to Campbelltown.
So its no wonder the footy commentary team said there weren't many Newcastle jerseys in the crowd, which obviously means a much smaller overall crowd number.
We don't own Concord Oval or any other ground. Few clubs own a ground. CO has been completely rebuilt as a centre of excellence, a training venue. It will never host top level footy matches again.I think a lot more thought needs to go into who and when we play at CS. I would think Canberra, Penrith and Dogs are no brainers. You can add another like say Cronulla and there’s 4 good games.
Sort out the most attractive day/time to play, offer a 4 match ticket deal with good discounts, and try to put more bums on seats.
We should always play Newcastle at Leichhardt and Canberra at Camb. Not the other way around. To me it just makes sense.
And why would we play Manly there, to rekindle the Fibro/ Silvertail concept. That died a long time ago.
Also, on the subject of money, I’m still trying to work out why we needed to spend so much on a centre of excellence which looks to me like a glorified gym with some offices and a coffee shop. It seems excessive.
Do we own Concord oval, that already had the bones of a potential WT home ground in a centralised location and with a reasonable amount of money could have been updated.Or is it too late ?
That would have finished the LO/CS debate.
Or am I just out of touch.
10K? So only 1K more than CSS actually got?LO is better, for some many don’t want to accept this. The inner west loves the Tigers & that’s where majority of fans are based. LO would've had 10k easy today, result may have been different but it would've been a great turnout for a Sunday arvo.
They did, 15k at the Bulldogs game on a freezing Friday night.Didn’t they have 15k there for a schoolboys union game? If only the tigers could attract that crowd there
Do you really blame them? Was there today…no atmosphere, the crowd struggled to get the Tigers chant going….those around me were more interested in sinking grog than watching the game.
Yes, inner west have passion but importantly the $$$$$No brainer should be Leichhardt
Not necessary. It would be cool if we could build a 15k to 20k seating stadium at Lidcombe
I agree. This topic comes up among WT fans but usually the discussion is a relatively fact-free zone.
So, here are the facts.
Crowd comparisons:
5 year crowd averages 2015-19 (excluding covid years)
LO 13268 v CSS 10671
10 year crowd averages 2010-19:
LO 13612 v CT 11836
Yes, LO crowds are better but not so much better that we shouldn't play at CSS any more.
Win Ratios 2010-2021:
LO won 24 lost 19
CSS won 21 lost 20
No important difference there either.

Yeah, i know mate,That brings up some PTSD.
With the current economic climate, it would be great if the NRL could subsidise a reduced entry fee and vendor food at Campbelltown for local residents. No doubt other areas are struggling as well but Campbelltown/Macarthur was recorded in the top two areas for mortgage stress. I hope the NRL give this consideration. The CSS crowds should be higher, but that's no reason to abandon the ground. The club is also responsible to make the games worth coming to.

Mate they better change their thinking. We need to win the hearts and minds of the youngsters in the SW. Just because you are poor or come from a disadvantaged background does not mean you should miss out on watching the WTs😀.To paraphrase Marie Antoinette the NRL response would be "Let them eat KFC"

I wonder if V’landys has ever been to Campbelltown ?To paraphrase Marie Antoinette the NRL response would be "Let them eat KFC"
