Honestly I don't know, I think his best position is probably a hard running centre, but again I think he may have issues defensively there. He is a very safe fullback, with a little more speed he could be really good there, but he doesn't have a little more speed.

I agree with you. He is safe under bombs but he is slow and awkward. His positional play is TERRIBLE. Why does our fullback play up in the line when the play is past the 20m? Doueihi positional play has been bad since he moved to fullback. Must be a more suitable spot for him. Shows plenty of guts most of the time.

Tonight's game reminded me of the Panthers game.
If you deconstruct the game you'll find all these little faults in our game but in saying that I also think we're seeing a more concerted effort from the boys. They gave everything in effort to try and reverse the damage.

We have an inexperienced pack and lack strike but we were highly competitive, and then to think we were still missing a number of players tonight... our future's starting to look very promising indeed.

I don't like ref blaming but I'm soooo over the officiating. Seems like we never have a fair crack.

Good post @Lauren we are just behind the top sides, they have an extra gear and a level of composure that we still don't have. We are fighting hard to stay on those games but we just don't have the players to turn the momentum back when the other side gets on top. In previous years the Eels score 40-50 points tonight.

Thanks @cochise.
It was a foreign feeling not to see a blowout scoreline with such an understrength team. We were already at half strength and then to have more players taken out in the game, I was honestly preparing for the worst.
But now it's all over I can't help but feel a little like I did after the Raiders and Panthers games - we were oh so close.

I have a very similar feeling, walked away feeling proud of the effort but feeling they are just better teams than us. We fight to stay in the game but to beat one of these teams we are going to need a little bit of luck to go our way.

I think with either of Garner, Reynolds and Leilua alone we would've got a different result.
Garner was great last week and though he's no good at steering the team either, Grub's energy has often helped lift the boys. But this game would've been so good for Joey Leilua.
His carries were strong in his last game and I feel he would've been fantastic for us tonight.

Fingers crossed our injury run is coming to an end.

I 100% agree with Garner and BJ, not convinced on Reynolds. I much prefer the someone like Blore bringing energy to the side, I need more from a 5/8th then just energy.

Bit of brain matter would not hurt , would it.

He is being coached to play in the defensive line like that. He’s been doing it all season if he wasn’t meant to he would’ve been told to stop.

Teams often rush up on him in those sweep plays and he doesn’t have the pace to get around them. They tried it on Mbye and multiple times Mbye beat the man with speed and created overlaps. Maybe in attack we should run Mbye as a fullback more, we did it against cowboys and scored off it

Yeah he also does not run at a consistent pace, he has excellent footwork in the defensive line and that is why he is always a threat of breaking tackles. That same juttering footwork slows the backline down.

I've said many times that he has the ability to throw a nice ball but it is inconsistent, did you see the pass he threw about 2 mins before that one that went to nobody. His passes also float as he doesn't throw a spiral on the long ball either.

Difficult to do much in attack with Mbye at fullback and whoever was playing left centre.

I thought we looked a lot better when Mbye went to fullback, he was a lot more involved than AD

Can't catch a bomb which is important for a fullback.

Doueihi can catch a bomb just can’t tackle just look at the way he tried to tackle sivo and rcc

Based on that argument, Tedesco is no good because Sivo knocked him unconscious when he tried to tackle him.

I’m still sticking with him at fullback. Does a lot of things right just needs to work on his pace, he’s still wearing a brace so that probably affects him. This was really his first poor game for us at the back. People go on about positional play and defence based off last night but he has saved a lot of tries for us this year. Always gets underneath kicks as well.

He’s played 10 games at fullback let’s give him some time

If there was a gun fullback on the market we could definitely try sign them and shift Doueihi to centre or even 5/8.

Don’t want to shift him around too much otherwise he could become another Mbye. He needs to work hard on one position and keep improving there, look how much it helped Kurt Mann at knights

The Rcc try, AD may have been a victim of ground condition (plus carrying injury) even Lawrence managed to run around Sivo.

Maybe as has been mentioned in here, we swap around a bit during attacking sets between MBye ad Doueihi.

I'm not saying for next week, but for next year, during the off season spend a lot of time on our combinations and swapping those two around mid set to keep the defence on their toes. It might make it hard for the defence to mark their man when who they are marking keeps changing.

And then you can get those two to change positions even when they aren't directly attacking, just to mess with the defence. I don't know, I'm not a coach.
