Tonight's game reminded me of the Panthers game.
If you deconstruct the game you'll find all these little faults in our game but in saying that I also think we're seeing a more concerted effort from the boys. They gave everything in effort to try and reverse the damage.

We have an inexperienced pack and lack strike but we were highly competitive, and then to think we were still missing a number of players tonight... our future's starting to look very promising indeed.

I don't like ref blaming but I'm soooo over the officiating. Seems like we never have a fair crack.

Good post @Lauren we are just behind the top sides, they have an extra gear and a level of composure that we still don't have. We are fighting hard to stay on those games but we just don't have the players to turn the momentum back when the other side gets on top. In previous years the Eels score 40-50 points tonight.

Thanks @cochise.
It was a foreign feeling not to see a blowout scoreline with such an understrength team. We were already at half strength and then to have more players taken out in the game, I was honestly preparing for the worst.
But now it's all over I can't help but feel a little like I did after the Raiders and Panthers games - we were oh so close.

I have a very similar feeling, walked away feeling proud of the effort but feeling they are just better teams than us. We fight to stay in the game but to beat one of these teams we are going to need a little bit of luck to go our way.

I think with either of Garner, Reynolds and Leilua alone we would've got a different result.
Garner was great last week and though he's no good at steering the team either, Grub's energy has often helped lift the boys. But this game would've been so good for Joey Leilua.
His carries were strong in his last game and I feel he would've been fantastic for us tonight.

Fingers crossed our injury run is coming to an end.

I 100% agree with Garner and BJ, not convinced on Reynolds. I much prefer the someone like Blore bringing energy to the side, I need more from a 5/8th then just energy.

Totally in love with Blore already. What a debut!!
Can't believe he's only 19.

We play like that every week in defence, we’ll make finals.

Difficult to do much in attack with Mbye at fullback and whoever was playing left centre.

I thought Mbye was good at full back he has pace and played well on both sides of the park. Doueihi is slow and doesn’t have the pace to get into the line when attacking and isn’t the quickest to turn when playing in the line. We have no one supporting when we break the line, which is often the full back.

Penalty count and possession didn’t help.

Missing Twal, Musgrove, Leilua, Mikaele & Garner going into this game. That's five players who start any other week if available. They all come back from suspension/injury last night, the outcome is different IMO. Doueihi probably had his worst game for us last night as well.

We're punching above our weight with a great deal of talent on the sideline. To go down by 10 with 14 men is a great reflection of the attitude Madge is instilling in the side. There's a few positions that could be improved.

What last nights game showed me is that despite the penalty count and the 6-again calls going heavily in their favour, Parramatta couldn't drive in the sword. I would not be happy as Brad Arthur that they could only put on 14 points against a side that had 2 men on the bench for 20 minutes, and then 1 for the last 20 against a spare parts side. They will not win the premiership this year.

After sleeping on last night's loss. I have to say, I actually feel better than I did after last week's huge win. I'm usually filthy the next day after a loss and dispise the game for the rest of the weekend, but not today. Such a courageous effort from the team and some really good things to look forward to.

Don’t know who’s idea it was when we had 4 sets in a row and had parra on the ropes we get a penalty so we go for goal wow changed the whole momentum of the game that’s a sign you don’t trust your attack

It was the wrong option,we needed to keep pressure on their defence as it was looking shaky.Parras confidence lifted when we had a shot at goal

I actually thought Mbye look a lot more dangerous ***in attack*** from fullback than Doueihi.

You are kidding he dropped the 1st Bomb out up and put us under pressure again, AD did not have the best night however he did throw a good pass that lead to a try.
Mybe i am sorry he is not work the $950k we pay for him.

As I said, Mbye looked more dangerous ***in attack***. Both Mbye & Douiehi were badly out of position many time sin defence, not good enough from either of them in defence, but IMO Mbye looked more dangerous when we had the ball.

How much a player is getting paid is irrelevant as to how well they play or not.

Its a tricky situation. I like Mbye in attack, but he clearly isnt up to it with defending bombs, whereas Douiehi looks safe under them. Douiehi's positional sense is not good in defence.

Maybe they switch? Mbye drops back when we have the ball and Douiehi attacks in the centres. Trouble is Douiehi is too slow for centre.

Im worried about Douiehi to be honest. He nearly has it, but his lack of pace is concerning.q

He is so close to being what we need but lacks that pace and crispness in attack. I can only see him truly being a hard running centre using his size. I don't know what else to do with him.

Well your entitled to your opinion, however Maybe Mybe is not the player we originally signed, as for the $ it is relevant how much we pay as it effects overall the Team culture paying over the odds, that's why there is a cap.
The reason we are not a Top 8 team over these past years is that we have paid players and appointed coaches that were not worth the $.
AD think it was his worst game at F/B this season and he looks too top heavy the way he runs that's why he is slow but hits the line hard, bad tackle miss and caught out of position more than once.
On a positive note the Team performed well last night and Madge has us going in the right direction, still would like to make the 8 this season.

Still not convinced that Mbye is not a better option for us at fullback. Slater mentioned last year that he was impressed at how well he organises the backline defence and chimes into attack. His one failing is that he is on small size and had difficulty with the high ball.
For me Mr D is a 5/8 or centre in making ..... he is safe fullback ..... but that’s all.

I like the team as it currently is, with Douiehi at 1 at Walters at 6. Great to have a safe fullback and a good defender in the middle. We're not far off.

Can we figure out a way to give Doueihis safe hands to Mbye? Surely there’s a surgery or something we can do. Mbye is great attacking as a fullback

In your opinion Cochise if we don’t play Doueihi in the halves or at fullback where

Honestly I don't know, I think his best position is probably a hard running centre, but again I think he may have issues defensively there. He is a very safe fullback, with a little more speed he could be really good there, but he doesn't have a little more speed.

I think he has pace but he is carrying an injury in my opinion....we dont know and dont know any better because he gets selected every week...we have had plenty players injured over the years and we didnt know any better...

That is true, though his highlights from Souths didn't show much pace either. I really hope you are right as if he is a bit quicker, I do think he can make a decent fullback.

That's where he got injured - it was Nofo.

It was Nofo again last night.

Beginning to think Nofo wants to play FB.

I think Mbye would be so much better in England whenever it restarts. He was rubbish at fullback. I still remember when we played the Rorters a few years back at the SCG. Pretty Sure he dropped every ball kicked to him. Id stick with AD. Let Madge work on his speed in the off season..

In 2018 he was great in the fullback role, last year he struggled. Doueihi lacks pace but also has an inconsistent passing game and stifles the backline a little on sweep plays. He is a safe fullback and that is all he ever will be, if we are playing with Brooks, Reynolds or Walters in the halves we need someone who can create a little more as a fullback.
