CEO - Shane Richardson

I read today we had the opportunity to bring in Kristin Woolf as an assistant for benji... But benji didn't wanna bar of it
Woolf has over 20 years coaching experience, won multiple comps in England.. Coached Tonga etc etc
He'd probably know a thing or two more than Marshall Farah and j-mo combined
Well he signed on to be Dolphins assistant coach & then to take over Wayne next year in 2022 so whatever you read isn’t true.

For all his shortcomings, under Pascoe, I’ve got to say the WT were much better at fan/member engagement…
1) Regular newsletters
2) Ask the Boss segments
3) Regular injury updates.

under Richo we get non of the above or similar…

IMO poor!
Well they were flat out having to cater to the more than 20,000 members we had back then, I mean we have nothing like that now, why even bother. 🤣 🤣 🤣

I think I know where I would go if I was given the choice of assistant to Benji or Wayne Bennett.
If you made Benji successful your path is pretty much blocked at the club given he is in his 30s like a few in our squad. Wayne on the other hand could leave you in a short time and nobody could have his elder statesman persona? As Demetriou found out, coaching is a tough gig when you’re getting started.

This is what I’m hoping for from Richo for the 2025 season
Farah to head office
experienced assistant to come in , assist Benji / Attack coach / recruitment
Richo to move on 3 from our top grade and 3 from reserve grade
Recruites need to be solid hard working have ago type x 6 players
Stef to move on or take the upgrade and extension , don’t want him hear for another year under current deal as he can just up and walk anytime another club comes up with the cash he wants in Sydney , we can’t keep going with crap contracts hanging over our head .
Players to be held to account for poor performance if we get the new guys in our ranks , best performers play first grade , put the pressure on the player to perform .
if we are still bottom 3 at the 1/2 way mark , Benji needs to be told move them up the ladder or walk season end that gives him a total of 2/12 years , 1/2 season last year , this mess season and 2025 ,
development club , well we need to lock in our top 4 kids that’s it , we can’t keep giving spots up to maybe,s

Holbrook apparently was one looked at who would’ve been great as an attacking coach.

Optics smell that it’s very ego/over confident/lack of trust from Benji. But it could also be all BS as some of the media definitely have it out for Benji.

Concerning that unless they are a mate they don’t come on board - well that’s how the optics look at the moment.

Benji protecting himself , who would want a top coach right beside them and if you start to fail club has a ready to go replacement

Can't have him in he might cause a bit of competition for Benji

If you think failure you fail. Which is not Benji like.

If that is the thought process though then we won’t turn results around with Benji being here (not saying that is Benji’s thought process - just how some things can be perceived).

Surprised Richo still riding Benji so hard…. Benji wont survive another bad start next year…
Agree, I think Richardson is assessing the state of things inc the coaching staff and in the off season will make decisions. I feel for him- he is now in charge of a club whose key playing management personnel were already put in place by an acknowledged underperforming Chair, Board and CEO. Not wishing to be disrespectful but Benji coming on board was a PR exercise where is was to learn from 2 years under Sheens as an assistant. With the Sheens exercise failing, why should Richardson be bound to a previous administration call?

Im sure Benji and co are being assessed and whether a call is made in off season I'll leave to Richardson's judgement. I know its another bad look with the coaching roundabout but if its for the right purpose I can live with it if it does happen. The only thing is have the replacement lined up already and ready to hit the ground running next day.

Ideally, Benji could standaside as head, step back to assistant to keep learning with the view to taking over in a couple of years when replacement coach finishes by putting his hat in the ring then (but no promises of the job- that depends on performance).

I agree with a lot of what you are saying ..

Would be a surprise to see Benji stay on as an assistant…that would be pretty unprecedented… in any top level sport that I can recall…

Richo is on a bit of a limited time frame here … he only signed up for another 4 years .. and we know he is not young or in the best of health ….so let’s say that 4 year clock starts next year … he is going to need some big jumps in that time if he is going to make them “ successful “ …. We can all have our interpretations of what that means …but moving them from 17th to 15th ain’t gunna cut it …

The impression I'm getting regarding Benji, is that he wanted his "pals" or people he knows around him, and didn't want outsiders, well that's ridiculous, if that is the case and the hierarchy are going along with that it's not a good look at all (I'm only surmising of course)- a purportedly good player does not necessarily equate to a good coach- even if he loves a club as much as Benji does
